I would have thought so too but the album is way too long. I've only see a few albums work as double sets (The White Album, Freak Out, the Wall). I'll post my thoughts later but I found the album as a whole rather average.

Best Tracks: Catch, Just Like Heaven, The Perfect Girl

Weakest Tracks: The Kiss, One More Time

The Cure’s two record set in one way reminds me of the Beatles’ White Album in that maybe it would have been better as just one record. There are some nice gems on this album and Catch is perhaps my favorite Cure song. Just Like Heaven I remember all too well as it seemed that every modern rock cover band from the late eighties/early nineties played this song. Unfortunately, most of the other songs are kind of forgettable to me. It’s not a bad album, but it certainly isn’t London Calling. In other words, it’s meh.

5/10 (The Word has spoken )

Some gloom, some pop, some psych, some funk, a bit of everything The Cure were into, wrapped up in a double LP. The album is inconsistent in spots and the musical styles go from one to the next without any seeming rhyme or reason but overall, it's one of their best efforts.

8.5/10
