MB Artists Classics- The Cure- The Head on the Door
Yet another album by the Cure. What say ye? Maybe we'll get a little more participation with this one, maybe even from Elph when he gets back from his, um, vacation. So give this one a spin and tell us what you think |

Boy, Hawk, Elph is going to clobber you when he gets back
Best tracks- In Between Days, The Blood Weakest Tracks- Close To Me, Six Different Ways This is their most commercial album to date. It’s sort of like Robert Smith is trying to make the top forty while not losing his goth cred. I think he struggles to have his cake and eat it too. It starts off with In Between Days which is obviously meant for single fodder. It’s their catchiest song to date. On the other hand, their other single, Close To Me, doesn’t impress me all that much. I mean it’s kind of meh. And that’s it. The album, with a couple exceptions, comes off as fairly meh. It’s not terrible at all, but it isn’t all that impressive either. 5.5/10 (The Word has spoken ) |

The band changed their lineup, changed their sound and released their most interesting album as a result. The often tedious gloom and doom gave way to upbeat and varied music with Robert Smith focusing on his talent for writing memorable pop and rock melodies in a variety of styles. This album appealed to a wider audience, had several hit songs, and propelled the band to stardom. "Screw" is the only weak track on the album and the only thing that keeps this from receiving a perfect score from me.
