I don’t necessarily agree at least when it comes to their earlier work but regardless there are other examples in this thread of that

Like imo Nightwish and Pearl Jam are pretty awful, but they’ve certainly influenced a lot of bands

I think we can all agree that the band who birthed Creed and Staind wins this thread.

Metallica, since there's a near infinite amount of thrash metal bands, but barely enough memorable ones to fill a small bucket.

Really, any great band has likely spawned a lot of imitator crap. How many bands try to sound like the Rolling Stones or Velvet Underground? How many are actually good? The Beatles pretty much spawned the Power Pop movement and there are some godawful bands in that genre.

Alternately? I can't think of any groups that do that.

Mr. Bungle. Love them, but I think a lot of untalented people took ideas from their self-titled album and formed them into horrible things like nu metal and Psychopathic Records.

Madonna, I guess. Most pop divas of that variety (mostly image - little musical talent) are trash.
