MB Artist Classics: The Cure - "Three Imaginary Boys"
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...albumcover.jpg
Debut album from the boys, released later in the US and Australia as Boys Don't Cry. Slightly different tracklist, so I guess whichever one you want to listen to and vote for? |

Alright guys, look I'm paying attention to other threads again! Also I'll listen to this album later. Gotta love Pornography though.

A pretty rough and at times underdeveloped album, but in a way where it kind of adds character rather than really subtract from the experience all that much. It really, really feels like the first album of a band in how aimless and sketchy it sometimes comes across. But there's a lot to like about it and even the more shaky tracks grow on me a little with repeat listens.
Favorite tracks: "Object", "Subway Song", "Foxy Lady" (almost feels like early Roxy Music!), "Meat Hook" and "Fire in Cairo". 7/10 |
hard to do when you're sitting down, but I could see it causing some violent foot tapping.

I guess I'm too accustomed to noisy, screechy metal to have really noticed. I listened to it at least three times and I didn't really notice much. It's not that much louder than the general volume of the album, although it comes after relative silence.

I'm listening to the original. Went back to find the scream and its clearly there, but I somehow didn't really notice when listening to the album 2-3 times all the way through. Maybe I sneezed every time it happened and didn't hear it.

Anyway, I gave this album an eight. Most of the tracks flow along quite nicely and I really liked the opening track. Favorite tracks are 10:15 Saturday Night, Grinding Halt, and Fire in Cairo. There really wasn't a truly weak track but those three really stand out for me. Is it truly a classic? My opinion is probably not, but Cure purists will love this album, but since I'm not a Cure purist... 8.5/10 (The Word has spoken :D) |
