This one's a 3 out of 5 for me.
I don't agree with this at all.

And it seems to have become a trend on here recently. That his albums were just full of filler.

He has at least three unassailable albums from start to finish.

Low and Let's Dance are both really strong albums, along with Aladdin Sane and a few others. But to be fair there's not a lot in my own collection I consider to be unassailable either.

To give you another example, I basically prefer David Sylvian to David Bowie in every way. But even if I like him more, I don't think his records are perfect. The two artists shared a lot of the same collaborators during the early to mid 80's so use that as a reference point.

For me, of those I know, unassailable albums would be Ziggy, Diamond Dogs, Aladdin Sane, Low and Station to Station. Can't really find a bad track on any of those. There may be others.

I don't think Diamond Dogs is unassailable. It's slightly above average imo.

The unassailable albums are, for me:

Ziggy
Station to Station
Low
Heroes
Scary Monsters
Blackstar

Unassailable.

While I haven't found many of his albums truly solid from start to finish yet, "filler" would be a bit too harsh a word for many of the songs that I don't quite think are all that great.

Yeah. See I don't see Heroes as unassailable thanks to Joe the Lion and that Arabia song. Blackstar probably, but I haven't listened to it recently enough to make that determination. Scary Monsters, close, but that Japanese voice at the opening of "It's No Game (No. 1)" bugs me and prevents the album getting the U rating.

Totally unassailable up to "Scream Like a Baby", where it starts to fade a little. Recovers well though. Still worth a good 4, and a high one.

Secret Life of Arabia is a great song, it just doesn't fit the structure of the album. It would have made more sense having it at the end of side 1 before the ambient pieces or put on Lodger as it makes more sense on that album. Neukoln should have been the last track on Heroes.
