If I need a manual to figure out the distinction, I might as well consider it the same thing.

Well I imagine if you don't like country the chances are you won't like folk, and vice versa. But I'm sure Neapolitan or Lisnaholic can point you towards some good folk music if you're interested.

I like folk music. I've got several things, but they don't sound anything like country. Vashti Bunyan, for example.

No.

All of the songs sounded well played and well produced but they just bored me and Nancy's vocals didn't do anything for me either. Best rating I can give this one is a "meh."

6/10

No, but I think I recognize the cover from one of your threads. Probably "Listen With Trollheart". Listening to the track, it's funny how it doesn't strike me as folk at all until the very end. The rest has a very indie pop/rock vibe to it. I guess it's especilly the melodies that don't feel very folky to me, even though there's a bit of folky instrumentation in the background.

I don't care massively about nitpicking genres.

But when I say that I like folk, I usually refer to stuff like Joan Baez, Bunyan, Loreena McKennitt or something more like this:

It's a huge and varied genre, so there's room for many approaches, just like with metal. Not to forget folk metal is also a thing!
