Wouldn't call either of them essential listening if you're already deep into the dark waters of metal.
I think all three are probably essential listening.

Sabbath
Maiden
Metallica

In that order.

There can't be many people who are into Metal properly who haven't heard albums from these guys anyway.

I don't know what Francis has heard when it comes to metal, but I imagine him to be far from a newbie to various sorts of genres and obscure bands.

There's not going to be any eye opening qualities to either of these bands - not unless you're new to metal.

Maybe it's just because I think of Sabbath as more of a band that's important to the genre than as a great band on their own.

I know most of the big names in Rock but most times idk their discography. Ppl can tell me all day *iconic band here* are legendary and i won't care but if they show me a song and i dig it i could start to understand where they are coming from.

Btw MLM, those Sabbath tracks you mentioned were 🔥🔥🔥

Totally agree. It shouldn't matter what the status of a band is. Just gimme some good music.

All right, I'm just going to go ahead and kick this off with his debut before this becomes the Sabbath/Maiden thread.
