I gave it an 8. Those 10 i see up there seem very generous to me.

Wait until you see my vote, then you'll choke on your morning coffee!
I'm not voting though as I'm gonna be an Elph and say that I felt like turning it off after a few minutes. I'm new to this hippity hoppity thing and this album just isn't floating my boat. |

It was one of the first hip hop records that I ever listened to and it didn't do much for me as a noob either. Explore the genre a bit more and return to it because it seriously lives up to its status. Also, that Quelle Chris and Jean Grae record is filled to the brim with this album's influence.

This was one of the albums submitted for my "Get Trollheart Into Hip-hop" thread, so yeah, I'll give it a go in a day or so. Don't expect miracles though. See also: the Gorguts thread.

The best thing about Madvillainy - aside from its factual perfection - is what it inspired and the direction it sent alternative Hip-Hop in. A collab between MC and Producer with seamless production between tracks. An attempt at a completely cohesive stand-alone unit, as opposed to a collection of songs. It had been tried before of course, but the impact is a tad more significant when you're talking about one of the best in both fields hitting their A-game, coming through with the best material of their careers.
This album may be the biggest inspiration for Madvillainy itself though:
