Plant can be annoying. If they got a Howlin' Wolf type singer fronting the band they'd be perfect.

I've already beat this dead horse but I don't care about their bland attempts at folk and blues. So half their catalog is what sucks about this artist.

A term that I think you're using a bit narrowly since I would call a lot of what you've called their rock stuff very very blue-oriented.

If Plant sucked less I could probably get into them, I guess.

But have you heard Stairway?

I can even play the intro, brah.

I mean more when it's blues dominated like much of the debut, which is terminally boring almost the whole way through.

I know the intro to Stairway, but can't recall anything else right now.

Not really my kind of thing and while I've check out Zep here and there over the years, I've never devoted time to really give them a chance.

While it's an amazing problem to have, I really feel overwhelmed by all this music I don't know properly. When listening to an album from an artist I don't know well, it feels like I'm only stopping to study a single grain of sand in detail, while standing in the middle of a desert.

Plagiarism.

There's something racist about them attempting to play the blues.

Jimmy Plant is a subpar melodica player.

John Bonham couldn’t hold his liquor.

But he could swallow it.

But he certainly knew how to hold a pair of drum sticks.

Zeppelin would have been perfect if they had gotten another 10+ years. If they had gone into sleaze metal or some variation of hi-tech AOR the results would have been amazing.

All he had left to learn was how to use them.

I also have that concert from them (record) THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME......

Not that I'd ever bother buying a player or anything, but I still think 8-tracks are kind of awesome.

Yes and they sound gorgeous.... They are pure analogue glory!!! (If the source is 100% analog that is)

Yep—I often get that feeling here.

Plant early-mid-80s was the latter, and Lez Zeppelin et al in my pronoun thread is an answer for the former. :D

They probably weren't as grainy back then.

I wonder how well today's tech will keep: CD rot, semi-disposable cell phones, 20-somethings buying +100-year-old wax.

Personally I like Plant. Zep aren't really that bad they are just a bit boring.

It's been decades since the internet offered an(other) alternative to rock radio. We've had our respite from the latter, and now might enjoy Zeppelin from time to time.

Often refered to as the greatest rock n roll band of all time....not even contenders imo.
started watching the song remains the same last week and fell asleep about 10 mins in, so much posturing by plant and page made me feel queasy and the 20 minute solos were a drag even back then. Best thing bout Zep was Bonham. :drummer:

I can't understand the hate for Plant.

Many of their songs are not really theirs
 

they "borrowed" to the extent of what we call today plagiarism. other than that- they are really good :-)

In a perfect world, Led Zeppelin would be fronted by GG Allin.
