Tolstoy influenced this sentence. Even though it’s totally undetectable in my writing, Tolstoy was a great writer and I read War and Peace and since I’m really deep Tolstoy’s greatness flows through me but nobody can see it. Hmmm

Chula’s busy putting together a Joe Pass tribute even though you already forfeited.

What can I say? I might have to change my vote.

Damn, Frown getting beat by Chula almost two to one in the vote. How does that feel, Chris?

Or

Tolstoy influenced me as a writer when I read War and Peace and saw how effective realism could be.

Isn't it really just the difference between being inspired by x and being influenced by x you guys are arguing about? Just my interpretation of the discussion and how I would personally use those two words differently.

Frown is influenced by Pass. If you're saying he's not then you're placing your ideas of influence on him. An artist can inspire someone in more than just sound.

Either it has meaning or it doesn’t. If you want to stretch the word “influence” so far out it becomes meaningless then I agree with you. If it has to do with music, I don’t.
