Sleater-Kinney - Path of Wellness
Welp, there it is. It usually takes at least two listens for me to form an opinion on a S-K album, but I think I've taken in most of it in one go. That probably has the same cause as my final judgement of it: it's just kind of boring. I still don't really mind the poppier sound, and they've done songs I didn't like much before the last two albums, but they never bored me before The Center Won't Hold. This album does so maybe even more. I'm missing the things that used to set them apart, whatever those were exactly. |

yes, she's certainly a big part of it :(
but still she's wasn't part of the first two albums and Call the Doctor has the Sleater-Kinney magic |
Haitus Kaiyote - Mood Valiant (neo soul, nu jazz)
Tyler, the Creator - CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (hardcore hip hop, experimental hip hop) The Grid/Robert Fripp - Leviathan (ambient, drone) Spellling - The Turning Wheel (art pop) Eli Keszler - Icons (avant-garde jazz, ambient) Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog - Hope (experimental rock, jazz rock) |
Various Artists - Space Jam: A New Legacy (soundtrack)
Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke, & Oren Ambarchi - Each Side Has a Depth of 5 Seconds / A Polka Dot Pattern in Horizontal Array / A Flickering That Moves Vertically (experimental, free improvisation) Dolphin Midwives - Body of Water (ambient, electroacoustic) Black Leather Jesus & Xiu Xiu - Moira (noise, experimental) Deem Spencer - Deem's Tape (hip hop, alt r&b) Vince Staples - Vince Staples (hip hop, trap) |
As interesting as a trio with Yoshihide would be, it's still the same old trio with Oren.

Repeat it enough and it'll eventually happen.
