This is an incredibly narrow minded point of view, and one I am sick of seeing. There has been countless examples of great music in the last two and a half decades. The only reason you think good music died after 1993 is because you only listen to mainstream radio and are too lazy to actually look for good music. Newsflash: Mainstream and top 40 radio has always been largely terrible with a few exceptions, retard! Yes, even in your beloved '80s and early '90s. Now, I feel like the '90s were the best decade for music, but there has been a lot of good **** in the 21st century. If you'd stop being a whiny little bitch and actually look for good music (platforms like Soundcloud, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, and YouTube exist for a reason), you'd find there's a wealth of it available, and it's only a click away.

But .. but .. but then he wouldn't be able to complain loudly to people who don't care about his music and about how horrible "youngster" music is! And how they dun killed his moozik! What would he do with his time then? I mean, come on!

Here, have these. Two modern metal bands that aren't hair bands but who have the hair band soul. Now move along for a while and stop being bitter.

Maybe I'm a pleb when it comes to hair metal but I don't see very many hair metal bands in the hot 100 for 1987.

You really are the most ignorant **** I have come across in a long time. How can you lump all metal together and say it's about hate and death and anger? You're thinking Death Metal (if you're thinking at all) and maybe - maybe - Doom Metal. What about Power Metal? Many people hate it but just about nobody would suggest it's all about hating yourself. Prog metal? Good old fashioned NWOBHM-style? Experimental/Avant-Garde? ****ing Pop Metal? Do me a lemon and get your facts straight (as if) before you tar all metal - indeed, all music you don't like - with one violently shaking brush, huh?

Two bands with wildly different styles who nevertheless care about the planet.
The first one may SOUND all anger and hate, and not be the kind of thing you like (not my cup of tea either) but they're all about not eating meat and ecology and ****.

And Threshold want everyone to wake up and smell the coffee before it's too late.

Some Power Metal for fun

and Maiden are of course still at it

Jesus Christ! This is only a tiny, tiny selection of the different metal that's out there, being recorded this decade.

Don't get me wrong but popular music is always one with kind of less tension, mind relieving vibe. Most of the people after hard day of work don't want to build up a rage, instead they want relaxation.
How do you know what people want? After a hard day at BK I can bet you Batlord wants to hear some screaming death metal or powerviolence. People won't fit into the boxes you're trying to cram them into, you know. Everyone is different.

Glam Metal was liked because of mostly sexual lyrics, and bluesy life stories in songs.
And it had its day. Now **** off.

Metal nowadays is psychological defense mechanism in which listener drowns worlds misunderstanding for him in hate and sadness in some cases. Many of modern metal music videos shows guy/girl picked up for being different, and at the end he/she take revenge for being pushed around by hurting or ultimately killing someone.
SOME. Understand that word? Some. Not all. You can't just cherry-pick the songs or albums or bands that prove what you say. For every band who plays this sort of music there are hundreds of others who are nothing like them.

I like real musicians that play instruments without auto tune, sampling, dubbing etc.To me most of the music on the radio is kiddie disney music or rap.
Music on the radio will almost always be 99% crap. It's no barometer of what's out there. Look beyond your radio.

I've met too many kids that have never heard of metal and call it "screamo."I believe the genre as a whole would be healthier if Metal had "some" solid mainstream presence (in the CURRENT pop culture... not bands that are primarily being listened to because they had such power decades ago). If we're being really honest, soundcloud/mumble rappers/trap/EDM are winning the pop culture war right now and it's having a distinct effect on the income a metal musician can expect these days. Glam metal used to have that role in the 80s and early 90s. I'm pretty sure it can happen again if someone is able to catch the zeitgeist. I will be amazed if EDM is around for ten more years, a remarkable lack of substance in that genre.
Jesus Christ you are one annoying ****. Please stop posting. Or at least post something new. Your entire thread can be summed up thus: WAH! I dont like today's music! WAHHHH!

Let's be honest, what made this thread fun was our responses to him. Now we're just going in circles like him.

Yeah I know. It's just this idea he has that "all metal is this or that" and "kids are being forced to listen to crap by the evil MTV etc" just bloody well angers me. I won't be responding any more though (unless he actually responds to my posts): it just isn't worth it. My blood pressure is sky high.

I don't buy it TH. Every hero needs a villain and Nick is our villain! If we dont do anything the hair metal bands are gonna comeback and this timeline will be merged with his timeline.
