Have this though. It's like NWOBHM for the modern age and one of the best trad heavy metal albums ever. Like that NWOBHM band who wasn't quite as good as Maiden and couldn't get the money for good production but they just so happened to exist in the 2000's when you didn't have to have a mainstream record deal to have production that didn't sound like it was made in a garage. And throw in some Mercyful Fate atmospherics in there to make them worth listening to on their own merits rather than just a nostalgia kick.

Yeah I could probably get into that, judging from a quick listen.

My own go-to power/heavy band has become Crystal Viper. I just love their entirely unoriginal take on the genre. The singer's voice seals the deal for me, plus they've got some memorable songwriting.

I entirely disagree. It's basic meat and potatoes metal done well, with no gimmicks. I think most power metal vocalists overdo it to the point where it becomes annoying.

I don't care what anyone says. I think she's a legitimately good singer.

The music sounds better than the last song with some actual bite, but still isn't amazing, and the singer is just dull. Absolutely nothing compared to HammerFall, Blind Guardian, or Elvenking's debut. I legit do not understand why anyone would consider that top tier. Real life confused.

It will confuse you even more that I think she's a 10x better singer than any of those. I enjoy the fact that it's more down to earth, less highly strung. Take Blind Guardian. Hansi Kursch or whatever the singer's name is. He's a good singer in many ways, but he also sings like he's got his balls in a vice and his hair is on fire and it's all a bit silly. At least that's what I feel these days. Maybe it's just me getting old. I like bands and singers to be a little less cartoony, a little more grounded. Or "boring", if you prefer. That's now how I see it, obviously.

Hansi Kursch sings like his life depends on it. She sings like she's in Hinder. And I say this as someone who doesn't much listen to power metal anymore, even Blind Guardian. Hell, I don't even listen to Iron Maiden all that much anymore.

That's my point. I was saying Nirvana were a huge band influencing large amounts of people before Cobain killed himself. The suicide is just what made the band into a legendary status.
