80s Glam is still more Metal than today's Metal.I love both Metallica and Motley Crue. Back in the 80s/early 90s Metallica and Motley Crue were both throwing a party and you could only go to one which would you go to? metallica's party would be getting drunk and high with a bunch of sweaty guys but crue's party your getting drunk and high with chicks and getting laid. Thrash is just another sub genre of metal. Glam is straight up metal while thrash was speed metal. Faster isn't always better that's why Metallica biggest album Black sound was closer to Motley Crue.
Compare Motley Crue, Poison and Winger to Pitbull, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, etc. Enough said. Don't complain about commercial metal. The commercial **** of today is a billion times worse. At least people required some ability to sing, play guitar, drums, etc. when it came to glam metal. In modern commercial music, hip hop/EDM crap, all you need is a ****ty meaningless bunch of words (as long as they are catchy) and a simple hip house beat produced by some random person who usually goes uncredited. Load is better than TBA. I do agree that TBA has a lot in common with glam metal though, prime examples in mediocrity.

My preference between the two changes, but I tend to prefer Load because of Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, and The Outlaw Torn, whereas ReLoad's best song is Fixxxer which stands next to the rest, but ReLoad's middle is pretty mediocre, whereas Load just has a handful of mediocre songs spread out, I've found Load easier to get through and even silly stuff like Mama Said is less cringey than Better Than You. Oh wait... Load has Ronnie, so yeah it does have the worst song out of the bunch, haha. Anyways, while ReLoad is arguably more consistent, I just find the highlights of Load to be more plentiful.

I can't believe I wrote this much on these albums because they're both only decent 6/10s to me, but I do still have a lot of nostalgia towards them because I had a great summer vacation listening to them some 10 or 11 years ago.

I loved Until It Sleeps, and played it to death when it came out. Load is great. Reload - meh. I could cull the majority of Re and a couple from Load and make a 1 CD comp too.
The music is ok, but I don't think it compares to earlier Metallica. But Megadeth did that with Countdown, as well.

I could live without ever hearing Metallica again, but I would miss their first two a fair bit along with Master, Justice, Hardwired, and the Loads to a lesser extent.

Ride the Lightning is by far my favourite Metallica album. And I do prefer their first four to pretty much everything else they've done except Load which I prefer to most of AJFA except for songs like Blackened which is better than anything on Load.

On Megadeth's end, I think Youthanasia and Countdown are pretty solid, though about half the songs on each album are like filler to me. Cryptic Writings is like the former albums but with more filler, and Risk is unlike anything Megadeth should have delved into stylistically.

This is unrelated to the rest of my post, but I like 90's, 00's, and 10's metal more than 70's and 80's. Metal innovated more in the 90's and 00's, though the 70's and 80's had the big task of laying down the groundwork for the genre, so I respect those decades for that, but I still think metal has been better since the 90's.

Totally agree on Fixxxer, but to me, reload is pretty much great after the first three, very skippable songs (Fuel, The Memory Remains, Devil's Dance). I like the more colorful guitar playing on ReLoad, plus I think the vocals are generally the best of Hetfield's career. I come back to this album much more than I do with Load.

Load has some gold, but I don't really like Ain't My Bitch, 2X4, Cure, Poor Twisted Me and Ronnie. I've also always felt that the heavy chorus in Until it Sleeps is not nearly as good as the quiet parts.

I love Countdown to Extinction front to back, pretty much. It's my favorite Megadeth album along with Cryptic Writings.
