Dodo/Lurker is one of the best post Hackett songs they ever did IMO though.
The best way to respond to that line of thinking goes back to what Louie once said. Someone approached Satchmo about blowing some snazzy Jazz riff from the roaring 20s on his trumpet. (This incident happened either in the forgettable 40s or nifty 50s) Armstrong retorted in his hallmark rough sounding voice:"If it was good then, it's good now!"
Abacab was good then, and it's good now.

Now FACE VALUE on the other hand is excellent!
That's probably the only Collins album I'd even think of listening to these days. Very low-key, mostly quite depressing ("The Roof is Leaking", "You Know What I Mean", "If Leaving Me is Easy") and pretty brutal and honest, given that it was written during his divorce. Second album is okay but really not a patch on that, and after that he just rockets off into the stratosphere and becomes yet another bland pop star. I hate his work now. He did well with Genesis after Gabriel left, though.
