Title: “Anymore"
Artist: The Sufis Album: After Hours Genre: Garage Rock/Neo-Psych What I know about this artist: Nuffin' And now, to listen... Bouncy, catchy. I like the low-key vocal and the organ is nice too. Melody kind of puts me in mind of “All For Leyna” by Billy Joel. Kind of. Not half bad. One-word impression after listening: Cool

I've just realised that if you go to the Artist rather than the Album page on Allmusic it helpfully shows you other artists who this one can be compared to, so I'm adding that category in. For times when the genre tag may not give you the best idea as to what the music is about, and if you don't feel like clicking the YouTube, you can at least see if they're like anyone you already may know.
I'll start that from the next one and then when I have time, I'll go back and add the category retrospectively to the ones I've already posted.

Title: “Temple"
Artist: Tonight Alive Album: Underworld Genre: Alt-Rock/Emo Pop/Punk-pop (is this the same as Pop-punk?) What I know about this artist: Nil Similar To: Paramore/Pvris/Against the Current/Kenotia/We Are the in Crowd/Hands Like Houses And now, to listen... Hard hitting kind of rock, not too bad. Yer wan has a decent voice that goes from kind of growly rocker to almost disco diva during this song (unless the chorus is being sung by someone else? No, in the video it seems to be her). Got a decent hook in the song, guitars punch nicely. Okay. One-word impression after listening: Interesting

Title: “This is War"
Artist: Audrey Horne Album: Blackout Genre: Alt-Metal/Post-Grunge What I know about this artist: Nothing Similar To: El Caco/Hinder/Alice in Chains/Crossfade/Three Days Grace/Adelitas Way And now, to listen... Sounds very Maiden when it starts, and the melody is ripped off totally from Blondie's “Call Me”. For all that, it's a bouncy, rocky metal song but definitely owes too much to Bruce and the boys. Even the midsection is classic Maiden. Good though, if a little (a lot) derivative. One-word impression after listening: Maiden

Title: “Week"
Artist: Jaguwar Album: Ringthing Genre: Shoegaze What I know about this artist: Nada Similar To: SPC ECO/Stargazer Lillies/Static Daydream And now, to listen... Louder and more abrasive than I had expected – I guess I've got used to shoegaze bands being quiet and introspective, your Lows, your Soulvakis – but this is more like MBV really. Very sharp guitar riffs, kind of gets in the way of an otherwise nice melodic little song; sort of seem out of place, those riffs. Odd. But not bad. One-word impression after listening: Loud

Title: “Spice City Boys"
Artist: Spice Boys Album: Glade Genre: Garage Punk What I know about this artist: Zilch Similar To: N/A apparently! And now, to listen... Raucous is one word that keeps popping up when talking of this Swedish punk band, and it fits. The vocal (which appears to be by a female, despite the fact that all four are guys. Maybe they're using effects on the voice of the singer?) is high-pitched and really hard to make out. Pretty damn weird. Raw enough guitar, not the worst I've ever heard but I doubt I'd be coming back for more. One-word impression after listening: Weird

Title: “Rebel Heart"
Artist: First Aid Kit Album: Ruins Genre: Indie Folk What I know about this artist: Nothing Similar To: Fleet Foxes/My Bubba/You+Me/The Accidentals/Samantha Crain/Lily and Madeline And now, to listen... Pretty keyboard driven, the vocal is a tiny little bit harsh but not bad, the vocal harmonies much better. Oh yeah, very pleasant and very catchy. Like this a lot. One-word impression after listening: Nice
