Not that I'm sure how to explain my musical tastes in this way, but it's something that I've been thinking about now and again. I guess I find it interesting.

That's enough rambling for now. Tl;dr - I don't think I've got anything against post punk in particular, it's just that it maybe doesn't play so much to the elements of music that speak to me the most.

I think that forming a dialogue with post punk aesthetic and conventions will most likely strip away your checklist, at least on an overall scale. Have you heard Deceit by This Heat? Hits all of the touchstones that you seem to gravitate towards while expanding the post punk philosophy.

Tl;Dr you'll learn.

No, I'll have to check up on that one too. It's too late here right now, so it will have to wait. I'm curious to see if it will feel different to me.

I know that you like the weird and wild side of Kate Bush (Violin, Waking the Witch, Get Out of My House, etc.), and a lot of Post Punk isn't so far off from that, so I'm guessing that if you explore the genre more you'll find at least few bands that click with you.

Also post punk is about as meaningful of a term as alternative or pop. There's a common aesthetic to it but it's a massive enough umbrella term that there's likely a post punk artist for everyone.

I've listened to it a bit more. I'm a big post-punk fan (Marquee Moon, Unknown Pleasures, Killing Joke s/t, Metal Box, Double Nickels on the Dime, Remain in Light, etc.), big Sonic Youth fan, basically everything around this album. My issue is not the overall sound, but the songwriting. A few of these songs just have no hook whatsoever, and that is just plain boring to me. To be specific, everything after What You Need I would say I enjoy. Bombast is the only track I enjoy before that. Spoilt Victorian Child, L.A., and Yarbles were probably my favorite tracks overall.
