What do you mean "the context of the namedrop?" It was the first album I wanted to listen to after being subjected to something I really didn't care for ...

Maybe it's the fact that I'm listening to this in a modern context, maybe I'm just not into post-punk (I never really rate post-punk highly.) I feel underwhelmed. If you want to listen to some classic English punk rock I wouldn't recommend this band. Not to take completely away from them, cause the music is interesting. Though the song Damo Suzuki is pretty good, reminds me of Can. 5/10

A rollicking good time, this one. Rock solid from start to the fantastic minute ending 'To Nk Roachmen'. Revisiting it almost made me nostalgic: last time I really enjoyed a Fall record from start to finish was 2010's Our Future Your Clutter, but I think in retrospect their 80's "sound" had a bit more bite.

I can agree that their influence makes them a potentially "unassailable" band, but they aren't my go-to for post-punk either (that would be early Swans, Echo & The Bunnymen, Julian Cope, etc.). Still fun anyway.

7 out of 10.

I was going to bring this up earlier but (I think we are going about it the wrong way) a majority of the forum thought it was a good. I don't think we should go by average as much as were the majority votes. The album had seven members who vote it a 10, all together there was 10 votes that counted the album as 8/10 or higher. (remember when 8/10 was the benchmark?) I think that should account for something.

If anything you want to take the average of 6.89 for its ranking among the other albums not as for its qualification for its MB Classics status.
