Just when it seemed this thread couldn’t get any more depressing.

I think the real test is who sounds better when played backwards. Beefheart probably sounds about the same.

I think I've reached my monthly quota of Batlord sigged quotes. But yes.

I haven't voted yet because in fairness it would oblige me to listen to at least one ICP track all the way through, and so far I've only lasted about one minute in one song I'm afraid.

Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band-Electricity (Cannes Live 1968)
^ I think this is about my all-time fave Captain Beefheart live clip. For 1968 it is such a powerful song and such a strange looking bunch of guys. What makes it especially good is the setting and the circumstance: not allowed to perform in an official music festival in Cannes, Cptn. Beefheart set up on the beach and played for free. Today his performance lives on, which cannot be said for any other act from the '68 Cannes Music Festival, afaik: the last laugh goes to Beefheart!

^ HaHa. This reminds me of what relucant schoolboys used to say in the '60s:
Why bother studying? The more you learn, the more you know. The more you know, the more you forget. The more you forget, the less you know, so why bother studying?
