My favorite band since 2011 is Dir En Grey though.

The symphonic metal I like is limited to barely a handful albums by now.
It's mostly a few tunes from Nightwish's year with Anette Olzon, a single After Forever album and two bands that I'm not even sure should be classified as symphonic metal (Arven and The Dark Element).
I got rid of all my NW albums with Tarja months ago. Her voice makes my skin crawl.

I see your rec btw. Just shortening things down.

That's cool. Do you like Sigh or Unhuman? That Dir En Grey song made me think of both bands.

A couple recs for reference if you don't already know them.

I've listened to Sigh before, but far from all of their stuff. Never heard of the other band but I like the bass work in the posted track. I'll check out more from both.

Since you like the bass on that, try Augury's new album Illusive Golden Age.

Here's a song from it.

You heard of Diablo Swing Orchestra? Some nice symphonic metal if you want to call it that. Otherwise I don't know what to call it other than avant garde metal. Bouncy and fun as all ****.

Damn homie, you're drowning in recs. I apologize, considering I gave you several full albums to listen to.

Ah clever man. Will you at get to at least one of my recs? Seeing some of your posts, I feel like you'd probably enjoy the Shai Hulud album the most. It's one of the most influential metalcore albums ever, releasing in 1997 years before the genre became mainstream. It's also a quick listen at 25 minutes. It's honestly a masterpiece in heavy music.

I'll take a look at at least a couple of the things you posted originally. I'm not necessarily listening to all of every album though, since that's a lot of work. Only Trollheart has the stomach for that approach.
