You absolutely do not. TMR is traditionally inaccessible until you listen to it a few times (aka 4) at which point many people get comfortable with the album not trying to be The Beatles and really embrace it.
A ****ing Matt Groening quote for your bad music appreciation skills "I thought it was the worst thing I'd ever heard. I said to myself, they're not even trying! It was just a sloppy cacophony. Then I listened to it a couple more times, because I couldn't believe Frank Zappa could do this to me – and because a double album cost a lot of money. About the third time, I realised they were doing it on purpose; they meant it to sound exactly this way. About the sixth or seventh time, it clicked in, and I thought it was the greatest album I'd ever heard". He's just trying to trick you, right? Or maybe TMR is an album that isn't as easy to embrace as other art but is actually better for it. This album DEFINES the grower record. Don't just dismiss that.

Just remember that lyrics aren't music. Not expecting you to explore their discography or anything, but if you did I imagine you'd be surprised at their musical development over a full decade. You might not appreciate it, but you'd probably be surprised at least.

Genres, Mondo: ****ing genres not artists. I don't want to get into one specific artist, much less one I already don't like. Quote:

If you say "The gateway to [insert band]" once more I'm going to ignore your posts. I am NOT looking to get into any artist (the above I know in any case, they're not new to me and I hated Johnny ****ing Burnette's song) but genres. So if you want to say "the gateway to [insert genre here]" fine, but stop using artists as frigging gateways. It's really annoying, all right? Genres, people. I don't know why this is so hard to grasp: it's in the ****ing title of the thread, after all...

What version? The Rock n Roll Trio, The Yardbirds, or Aerosmith?

I wouldn't tell you that a WISSK or Peter Brötzmann album can grow on you, this album is very special in that aspect. There's a reason I keep hammering this point.
