MB Classics: Acid Bath - When The Kite String Pops
|
|
Explain yourself, Thelonious.
|
Spotify is lame. I found the album but Spotify simply informs me that it's "unavailable" when I hit play. It also isn't on Youtube, it seems.

anyone giving this under an 8 deserves a temp ban imo
|
I faked it. I looked at a few YouTube vids where they played over the music. I expected to hate it to be honest, but it sounds a little like old stoner rock to me. It's no classic, but it's not half bad.

i dont think violet's 1 should count without some sort of explanation cause otherwise it seems like a troll vote
|
I'm new to this album & artist, but sure doesn't sound like a 1/10 to me. I'm going to hear the whole thing before I make up my mind, but so far it both reminds me of Alice in Chains, Crisis, Load and St. Anger. Plus mid 90's Overkill and a few other things.

I voted 1 because it isn't on Spotify or Youtube. And I don't download music. But this was before you posted that vimeo link, so I'll get back to you guys.

cause violet just said his vote wasnt legit |
Since this will happen again: What should people do if they can't find and listen to an album within reasonable limits of effort? Vote whatever they randomly feel like? Not vote? Sell their firstborn for a vinyl of the album in question?
|
i think it should be up to the person who nominated the album to supply a link
|
I think they should not vote and should close their account if they can't find music on their own.

I'll make a rule for the main thread. |
OK, so I just listened to this album for the first time. While I would like to remove a couple tracks that came just after the halfway point, it was all round a pretty solid album.
Very heavy, groovy stuff. Impressive variety (mostly). Obviously, I can't say that I've built much of a relationship with this album yet, so I'm going to have to vote 7/10. |
elph **** outta here with your ***gy ass stupid **** ****ing 1

He didn't have a choice, I already removed his vote.
Keeping elph's because he's being honest despite also being a twat. |

Currently 7.1 average. And I'm going to give it a relisten but as I recall I felt this album was a solid nine.
|
Not gonna rate this one, cant find the full record anywhere
Seems a bit obscure in notoriety to be considered a 'classic' even if it is a great record |
Quote:
also there's no rule about how obscure the album is. the thread is called MB Classics. meaning it is whatever we deem to be a classic. not only that but it's not available due to record label disputes, the band is actually pretty critically acclaimed within their genre. |
I didn't know the cover was by John Wayne Gacy. If I known I wouldn't have voted at all. I saw a doc on him and what he did to those teenagers and young men was horrible.
|
Mod consensus. 8 it is then, let’s move on.
|
I didn't expect to like this, but I did. Have a 7.

I'm not all the way through this album, but I like it quite a bit. I think my review should be positive unless it really starts to stink it up, but it's very consistent, maybe a little bit repetitive but I'm not going to really raise a big fuss about that if it sounds good. It's not a 10, but I think it's at least a 7 or an 8 even.
