Music in the 2020s
Hello everyone, I´m trying to get into the music industry and hopefully have a career. I already have some of the lyrics for my debut album ready, but with the end of this decade and the dawn of the 2020s almost upon us, I´m trying to find the sound and style of my album. You could say I can adapt easily to a wide range of genres, from soul to Radioheadish experimental rock.
I want the sound of my debut to be a transition between the sounds of the dying 2010´s and the rising 2020´s, a sort of bridge between these two eras of music. Can someone please help me with this? I already have some opinions of my own on this subject, but I also need an opinion from real experts when it comes to music. So, how do you guys think the early 2020´s will sound like? Sincere thanks, Nate |

Everyone will get sick and tired of Skrillex. Someone will discover Add n to (X) and emulate their sound. This is the sound of the future: Revenge of the Black Regent by Add N to X

Truth is is there's no possible way to answer this question. I mean the only thing that's certain when it comes to music is that four chords will always be your quickest and easiest route to a hit.
That and selling your soul to the Devil. That always works too. |

Add n to (X) is a band that appeared on the Peel sessions. John Peel is a interesting person. He was a radio DJ in the UK, he had finger on the pulse of what was happening at the time. If he played a band's single, or have them appear on his show virtually help launch that band. Sean McBride (Xeno & Oaklander, Martial Canterel) uses entirely all hardware synthesizers (as oppose to software like FM8 which was use for the warble bass in dubstep). Sean uses old Roland synths and drum machines to control his Eurorack (mini-modular) synthesizers. Add n to (X). Sean McBride, Adrian Utley, and Timothy Wiles (Uberzone) are gearheads that collect a lot of old synths. Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) is another who uses analog modular synthesizers. I think like the 20s there will still be a niche for music made from hardware synthesizers. I don't know how well you'll like this song, however I wanted to show you the video so you can see what gear he uses. Xeno & Oaklander - Par Avion
