they probably wouldn't have been so goddamn boring

honestly though

Piper > everything else they've done combined

I still think Darkside is a wonderful album that has no place as being the best album of all time but is still a joy to listen to. Followed by Meddle.

it's alright when you're high, i suppose. i loved it when i first started getting seriously into music but it gets old very fast. the only Floyd album i can go back to and listen to front to back is Piper.

The were eclectic in the movie, where they re-record Ritchie Valens' Rock and Roll music and also played traditional music with traditional instruments. When Bob takes Ritchie to Tijuana for a lost weekend, they were the band at the dance hall that was playing La Bamba.

there's not enough room for you and frown both on here, one at a time please.

i dunno why the comparison matters anyway, King Crimson aren't (from what i've heard) a boring prog rock with nothing much to offer outside of one phenomenal album and a couple decent but incredibly overrated ones.

Frownland 10-24-2017 06:32 PM

The comparison is that it's a pleb opinion.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-24-2017 06:34 PM

when did people start using the word pleb as a synonym for correct?

Popular=/=correct.

I find it hard to take the Piper only crowd seriously because it's as bowrrrring as DSOTM.

I mean I do agree that they're incredibly overrated, but they still have a lot of good material.

Lisnaholic 10-25-2017 05:38 AM

To get your money's worth out of ten artists, I figure that you want people who have a big fat discography. That means that my list looks like this:-

Folk:-
His Bobness, the Dylan of Zimmermans
Van Morrison

Rock:-
Captain Beefheart
Phish
Can

Jazz:-
Hugh Masekela
Soft Machine

From around the world:-
The Super Rail Band
Lars Hollmer in all his incarnations

Man who can't be squeezed into a genre:-
Moondog

And supposing you had to live with somebody else's list? I'd perhaps go with Frownland's. I don't think I'd risk Janszoon's because of his ten chosen artists, I've only heard of one. His choice is definitely the most obscure so far imo.

rubber soul 10-25-2017 05:46 AM

I just thought of something. If you are stranded on a deserted island, where is the electricity going to come from? :D

Texas Boy 10-25-2017 05:47 AM

1.Black Sabbath
2.Deep Purple (In Rock is maybe my most fave album ever)
3.Led Zeppelin
4.Rush
5.Queen (70's stuff only)
6.Yes (70's stuff only)
7.Iron Maiden
8.The Who
9.Guns N' Roses
10.Thin Lizzy

Not easy picks, there are many of them who would be super close to these listed bands.

Clefsong51 10-25-2017 08:31 AM

Ten is good...The Temptations-The Miracles-The Four Tops-The Impressions-Major Lance-Wes Montgomery-The O'Jays-The Spinners-The Marvelettes-The Moments.

The Batlord 10-25-2017 09:12 AM

Honestly I've listened to way too many of my favorite artists' albums to death, so I don't see any reason to pick artists I'm interested in and who got a bunch of **** to check out. I'll take the chance on not digging them as much as I'd like and I'm sure I'll force myself to like them after a few years anyway.

1. Black Sabbath
2. Slayer
3. Reverend Bizarre
4. Ke$ha (not many albums but I can't leave her behind)
5. Townes Van Zandt
6. John Coltrane (gotta have an artist I'm interested in with a big discog to explore)
7. Wu-Tang Clan (collectively and solo)
8. Rolling Stones (lotta albums, pretty eclectic, and I haven't heard the majority of their albums)
9. Blut Aus Nord
10. Gorguts (not my fav DM band but I need one and too many bands have only a small handful of good albums and/or they all sound the same)

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-25-2017 09:20 AM

you can’t have solo albums too with Wu-Tang, that’s clearly cheating.

The **** it is. From the beginning they made it clear that it was all part of the same plan to take over the industry. And the solo albums have so many members all over them that they're one step away from being full Wu-Tang albums anyway.

A step that matters, you dirty ****.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-25-2017 09:36 AM

it's people like Charles who make Trollheart the way he is now with his rules.

The Batlord 10-25-2017 09:37 AM

**** if I care about you Nazis. I'm taking my Wu-Tang albums to my desert island where I don't have to hear you whiny ****s. BTW if I have electricity to play music does that mean I have a house, air conditioning, and video games?

It's clearly a Nazi type situation that the OP poses, so you might want to take heed of us whiny ****s to protect your neck.

The Batlord 10-25-2017 09:42 AM

They're collectively the same artist, they make far more highly linked music than your average solo artists, and they're even generally produced by the same guy. I call shenanigans on you.

Frownland 10-25-2017 09:42 AM

Miles Davis Quintet (group and solo projects)

The Batlord 10-25-2017 09:44 AM

So put them on your list if you want. I'm not Trollheart. If Goofle wants to **** on me then I'll pick something else.
