Nah, I was waiting for you to start jeering at my use of the phrase "yearning vocal". There, you can do so now. I'm just telling you to **** off in advance. No offence.

When I notice that my writing is bad, I either double down on it or try to make it better. Lashing out at people seems counterproductive.

You're obviously unfamiliar with humour.

We're four tracks in now and I can't even think of anything to write. It's not even bad enough to write bad things about it; it's just, well, bland and boring to me. Of course, I'm no fan of R&B, but I find it hard to latch onto anything at all here. As it goes on I just get more bored and there's still nothing to write about. Someone guests on a rap on one of the tracks, but I really don't care who, or on what song. For the sake of clarity though, let's see: it's Ludacris, on “Grey”. Kind of an appropriate title, given how little impression this album is making on me.

Okay! Finally! Something that wakes me up. “Worlds Apart” ia a nice slow, smoky blues number with some fine jazzy piano in it and also violin. If all the tracks were like this, then this album would be getting a much higher rating, but sadly we're already back to mediocrity with the sub-par “Weekend”; “Higher” is not too bad, but then “Loving You” re-establishes the poor quality and to be honest I'm surprised I managed to get through this without bailing.

Love the opening track; I think there's possibly some Alan Parsons Project in the guitar riff there, but I couldn't swear to it. Very ominous, very trap, and “Go For Broke” is another good one, with a sort of upbeat pop feel to it. I really like “Kiss the Sky” too, great atmosphere to it, while “Bad Things” is the ninety-four-thousandth song to utilise the melody arrangement of Pachelbel's “Canon in D Major”. “Rehab” has a lot to recommend it, as does most of this album. Pretty damn impressive.

At least it's only an EP, so five tracks is all I have to suffer. First one is not bad, to be fair; a long way removed from the bland uptempo poppy nonsense they're known for. Second one (also the title) is good too, but “One More Night” returns to their boyband roots, ie it's ****, and from there it's basically a nosedive back to the band we all know and hate. Oh look! They even rob the bass line from “99 Red Balloons” for “Still Sounds Good”. Yeah. Right. **** off, guys: you're no longer kids and there are newer ones on your block now. I mean, Donnie Wahlberg is on Blue Bloods, as a grizzled middle-aged cop, for the love of god! You can't be kids forever. Grow up, guys, and retire with whatever shreds of dignity you still possess, if it's not too late. It is too late. Well, do us all a favour and retire anyway, then we'll all be thankful.

You just can't beat the Latin rhythm, can you? It's impossible not to feel like dancing, though luckily for all involved, I restrain myself and confine myself to listening while tapping my toes. This album is hard to find information on, so much of what I'm writing is guesswork. It's good bouncy pop from the beginning anyway, with plenty of brass and congas and what have you, and she seems to be in a party mood. And that's basically all I can say. It's a party, so enjoy it. There's some guy singing with her on “Vuelva a Mi” (come to me?) which has a nice sort of relaxed feel to it, and hey, there's even a Spanish version of “Hallelujah” to close. But really, if you're having a party (as I believe people oftimes do) then you could do worse than throw this on. At least it'll get people up dancing!

Check out more from this artist? Probably not
