![]() ![]() Album title: Windy City Artist: Alison Krauss Genre: Country Nationality: American Release date: February 17 Position in Discography: Fifth Fear Factor: Low Familiar with this artist? No. I've heard of her though. Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little Average RYM Score: 2.75 Perhaps odd to open an album with a ballad, but it's a nice one and sets the scene as the album kicks up into a real bluegrass party. Sure, it's a little twee but hell, at least it's not country pop! This has fiddles and accordions and everything. Oh, and steel guitars of course. Reminds me of the music (though not the voice) of Nanci Griffith, which to me is not a bad thing. Ah, right: this is another covers album. Well it's a lot better than Keke's I feel. Her version of Roger Miller's “River in the Rain” is excellent, and although (like Keke's album) I know few of the originals here, I do recognise the late Glen Campbell's “Gentle On My Mind” and she does a great job with it here. Generally speaking, for an album of covers this is pretty sweet. Check out more from this artist? Yes Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes ![]() Expectation Index: 0
