King Gizzard is a great band to dive into because if you find yourself going "I like this but it could be perfect if they did a few things different" then just keep listening because they probably did the thing you want. I love the different vibes they put out with each release.

I guess we'll see, over their next four albums. TBF, the Spotify queue pushed me on to the first track of the next album and it was pretty good, so you never know... stranger things have happened.

That horse becoming pope, for one thing.

Sketches of Brunswick East is easily my favorite record of theirs and probably one of the best albums I've heard this year so I'm looking forward to your take on it.

This pleases me. I've got it sitting on my computer, I just haven't been around to it yet. I'm a fan of Nonagon Infinity and Microtonal Banana, but Murder of the Universe was pretty bland.

You should like Sketches. I though MotU was just okay as well. Sketches is much jazzier.

Interesting stuff. I'm no fan of, nor expert in, psychedelic rock, but this sounds pretty all right. The first track uses the title as its only lyric, yet it's compelling and not a little hypnotic. The rhythms are certainly engaging and seductive in a way. Gets a little wearing after a while though; much of it seems to be the same, though “Billabong Valley” and “Anoxia” change things up a little. I like “Doom City”, it definitely has something. Yeah this is all right but not really something I'd be too much into. Maybe you need to be high? Dunno. Don't see it though.

Check out more from this artist? I'll have to, as they have four other albums scheduled for release this year
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? As above

I recommended them to Lisnaholic about a year ago. Glad they are getting more exposure. They deserve more than a 6/10 imo.

Album title: The Breaker
Artist: Little Big Town
Genre: Country Pop
Nationality: American
Release date: February 24
Position in Discography: Eighth
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little
Average RYM Score: 2.98
Hmm. Kind of like a cross between Fleetwood Mac and CSNY maybe. Or maybe not. Maybe a shot of The Eagles. Am I turning you off yet? **** off then. I'm quite enjoying this. Rocky enough with a nice country flavour. Like the vocal harmonies (all four of them sing) and while there's nothing earth-shattering here, there's really nothing I don't like. It might seem like I don't like country pop, and a lot of it can be terrible, but there are some bands and artists I do like, such as Faith Hill, Blue Sky Riders and I guess now these guys can be added to that shortlist. Hey, sure it's cheesy as hell, but damn if that cheese ain't tasty! Yum!

Check out more from this artist? Yup
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yep

Album title: Sick Scenes
Artist: Los Campesinos!
Genre: Indie Rock
Nationality: Welsh
Release date: February 24
Position in Discography: Sixth
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 3.26
These guys seem to have a sense of humour anyway, taking the word for a Spanish peasant as their band name even though they're from Wales, and titling their first demo Death To Los Campesinos! Mind you, it will take more than a sense of humour to impress me if the music ain't to my taste, but it does help when a band doesn't take themselves too seriously. Hmm. Isn't this kind of Pop Punk? That's seen Elphenor off, then! But the frenetic, upbeat, somewhat irreverent tone of the songs does suggest that kind of genre. Of course I know **** all about pop punk so I could be totally wrong, and probably am. “A Slow, Slow Death” gets my attention; really like the brass in it, and the overall bouncy tempo of the song. Sadly, most of the rest of it is just all right, and nothing special really. “A Litany/Heart Swells” is good, but not much else stands out. Proof, I guess, of what I said earlier about a sense of humour not being enough.

Check out more from this artist? No

Album title: Anime di carta
Artist: Michele Bravi
Genre: Pop/Electronic
Nationality: Italian
Release date: February 24
Position in Discography: Second
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 2.50
So what is this? More Italian hip-hop? Sounds like it when it starts, but then it takes a turn towards a more mature, dramatic kind of pop maybe. Generally decent enough, but nothing that makes me want to suddenly listen to his other album. I think the thing about this is that I don't keep looking ahead to see how many tracks are left, but I'm also not saying oh no, only X number of tracks left. In other words, when it's done I'll be happy enough, though not relieved or anything. I'd probably listen to it again, but it wouldn't bother me if I never did either. Does any of that make sense? Then you try dressing up as Death for a whole bloody day and scaring kids!

Check out more from this artist? On balance, probably not
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes
