Didn't watch it. I normally just cue up a YouTube, pause it as soon as it begins to play, hit copy and then just paste it into the review. I rarely if ever watch the videos.

No jokes, please, about feeling horny! OK then, this is decent. It has teeth, and she doesn't sound like some pop star trying desperately to be a country girl. Nice sort of almost Bonnie Raitt raspiness to her voice. Don't think ICP would fancy the opener: “700,000 Rednecks”! There's a lot of rock mixed in here too: “Lay You Down” is good but “Jackpot” is too cheesy Elvis for my tastes, and “Companion” also looks to the fifties for its inspiration. “Foolish Heart” is good, but there's something about this that just isn't speaking to me. Don't know what it is. I guess it's a decent album but I kind of don't like it.

There are a lot of genre tags pertaining to this band, some good, some bad. Jesus Christ! That's a woman on vocals? Holy, if you'll forgive the expletive, ****! Musically though it does sound more proggy than death, even if the vocals place it firmly in the latter category. Some great musicanship here, and although I don't know much about MDM, I'd call this definitely more progressive (or maybe djent, though I'm very unfamiliar with that) and if it wasn't for the vocals I doubt this would be getting the DM tag in any fashion. I mean, I'm not even sure it fits. The musicanship is generally excellent, but the vocals seem almost at odds with the music, like they're trying to force themselves to be a death metal band when they're really nothing of the sort. I don't know: give me a “normal” singer and I think this band would be definitely seen in a different light. There's a sample of what this would be like in “Paragon”, where she lapses for a moment into clean vocals, which obviously would be my preference. It's not that I particularly hate DM vocals: if they're necessary and appropriate to the music then fine, but I just feel these are not. It just feels completely out of place next to the music. Maybe I just don't understand Melodic Death Metal. For all that, good stuff though, and certainly worth a listen.

Check out more from this artist? Not really sure. Maybe.

Now that was unexpected! That Once Human album has been on my "I'm buying this eventually" list for almost a year. Didn't know it was on the wiki list and would never have thought you would like it!

Well I didn't rate it as highly as I would have, had the vocals, not just been clean, but meshed better with the music. But not bad at all. Still not sure what it is exactly though.

My experience of Garage Rock has not, to date, been that good. Well, we're four tracks in and I could not care less. It's not that it's bad, it's just that, you know, see previous sentence. Sigh. Actually check that: “Vacation” is quite catchy. Oh, it's over. What's next? Yeah, okay this is good too. Maybe it just took time to get going. “Hippie Soldier”is very entertaining. This isn't as bad as I had expected. Not really bad at all, to be fair.

Check out more from this artist? Meh, probably not

I can totally see that.
For me, I'd just like to have the volume of the vocals down a notch and the guitars up a notch or two.

I don't know why, but it's a trend in metal these days to have loud growling and quiet guitars in the mix. I don't like that.

i almost forgot about that Orwells album. what a shame. their last album was really good trashy riff rock but they followed it up with a totally meh record.

I am into garage rock and I'd have to give it a meh rating too. Don't ask me why but the vocals sound kind of like Franz Ferdinand.

Why is this called “The Anti-Album” I wonder? Very pleasant Ride-like opening I feel; like the female vocals. Slow to start but then gets rockier as it goes on, sort of dream pop I guess. Basically a good album with a lot of good tracks, but shoegaze makes it often hard for me to pick out specific tracks, it's more a general feeling over the course of the album. The feeling here is, well, pretty good really.
