I have no idea what futurepop is (though I suppose it's not too hard to guess) but I have heard of darkwave, and I certainly like the gothic, dramatic feel of this so far. Nice that they sing in English, too; I hadn't quite expected that, given that the title of the album is in German. Kind of reminds me of The Sisters of Mercy. I would say it's good certainly, but after sixteen tracks it really wears thin, and I'm not sure I would want to hear any more if it's all like this.

Lyrically, when this starts, if I didn't know better I'd have put it as a CCM album; there sure is a lot of mention of God in it. Title is a super cliche, but we'll let that go. Nice smooth soul though. Lot of finger-clicking on this album. Some nice songs, but as you know, r&b generally isn't my thing and though this is surely a good album, I'm sort of bored with it. I could definitely do without Snoopy Doggy on one of the tracks. Adds nothing, so far as I can see. Not a great song, in fact the album has started taking a bit of a dive since “Dance Tonight”. I guess “New Addiction” is okay but “Amazing God” is a little too barf-inducing. Reminds me of this.

This is the type of stuff my friend and his wife listen to. This, industrial agrotech and older 80s goth music.

I think these guys sound like Sparks. I don't know. I also don't care. This is pretty boring and almost not there it's so nondescript. Art pop? More like arse pop! One of the lyrics in “Same Plane Dream” repeats “Can't give up”. I can. Speaking of planes...

I kind of like that Dutch Uncles song, I think. It will have to go on my playlist for now.

Again, I'm happy to have helped someone else find something they like, even if I didn't. That did nothing for me. But fair play.

Finally, a band I actually like! Given the thread currently in progress about hating symphonic metal, this is probably an untimely review, but **** you all. I like Edenbridge, one of the few symphonic metal bands I do, along with Leaves' Eyes, Within Temptation and, to a slightly lesser extent, Epica. Of course there's drama, pomp and all the usual wankery you get with s/m bands, but I've always felt that Edenbridge stand a little above the vast slew of their fellow genre stablemates, and Sabine Edelsbacher is a great singer; she doesn't push it over the top as some singers in the genre do, though she can really turn it on when needed. Edenbridge also don't overuse orchestral backing, as many of their peers do, one of the things which seems to annoy people about this genre. They also have some great hooks in their songs, such as the one in “The Moment is Now”, which manages to be just radio-friendly enough to perhaps garner airplay while yet retaining enough snarling guitarwork to remind you it's very definitely metal, albeit of the symphonic kind.

Look, there's nothing terribly new or exciting here – this genre, after all, is about as innovative as Power Metal, and you shouldn't expect surprises or groundbreaking developments – but it's a decent album and, if you like this sort of thing, when they're on song Edenbridge prove here that they're among the very best the genre has to offer. If you don't like it, **** off and listen to Slayer.

Edenbridge really just bores me to death. I want my symphonic metal with all the bells & whistles, damn it!

This is a pleasant little album from a bunch of brothers and sisters (mostly sisters) from Texas. The vocalist has a really nice voice and occasionally shares singing duties with her brother, who can also sing. “Sparking” and “Rabbit Hole” are two particularly good numbers, while “Louder Than a Lion” has a more dark, sombre feel to it. I kind of like everything on this. Impressive, and I sort of had not expected it to be.

Shout out to MicShazam: if you liked those Dutch Uncles you'll probably like these guys.
