Did you have a boredom-induced heart attack as a child and now you're too terrified to not have anything to do?

TH has no setting between lazy dad jokes and epic undertakings that will take years to complete.

What makes you think I was ever a child?
To be honest, kind of. Surprisingly, I know, hard to believe, but I was socially awkward and had few friends. So I was always involved in projects of my own making. If it wasn't making compilation tapes, it was organising my albums. Later, novels written by hand with hand-drawn maps, then typed up, then I got a computer. Games? Nah. Started writing. Websites followed, then at some point I stumbled over this place and my life just went pretty much downhill from there.

Yes, if by hip-hop you mean fantasy lands and if by culture you mean adventures, exactly that.

I wasn't aware there was one.

TH's fantasy lands have no culture.

That's where you're wrong. Bacteria grows plentifully on the slopes of Mount Batlordus.

Is it appropriate, I ask, that an album that sounds like it was released by Franco Pepe Kalle was released on Valentine's Day, given the man's unashamed love of female booty? Although this is an album of covers I only know three of them, so can't give an informed opinion on whether the others are any good or not. What do you mean: I wouldn't know an informed opinion if it kicked me in the balls and robbed my wallet? Hah! Joke's on you, pal! I don't have a wallet! So, I've heard of Mary J Blige, but the only song I know by her is her own cover of U2's “One”, and that's where me and Miss B part company. This isn't “One”. Guess it's alright. I mean, it's soul and r&B, so don't ask me, you know? The songs sound ok, but that's about it really. The first one I know is Prince's “Diamonds and Pearls”, and well it's ok I guess. Kind of hard to get excited about anything on this album though. Boredom kicking in ... Most of these songs sound like they were boring originally so I really find it hard to care about her covering them.

Unfortunately (though unsurprisingly) it's Houston's long-drawn-out-dirge version of Dolly's “I Will Always Love You” she chooses to cover, so **** that, (I really had to stop myself fast-forwarding that ****e) and then neither Calvin Harris nor Taylor Swift interest me, so I don't give two ****s about their song, which brings me to the classic Marvin Gaye “What's Going on”, which really is such an unassailable (copyright Occulthawk MMXVII) classic it should be a capital offence to cover it. I guess it's a nice acoustic version, but not sure about the addition of Keever West (anything to Kanye?) when it wasn't a duet in the first place and this is supposedly her album. She's handled songs by male artists already so why not this? Anyway I miss the lush strings that accompanied and framed Marvin's version. And I know nothing about “Tennessee Whiskey”, except I assume it blows your head off. Nice kind of blues tune, but I really don't see the point in this album: the covers are all over the place, so what's the theme, if there is one? Meh.

Check out more from this artist? Nah
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Probably

Album title: El Chamaquito de Ahora
Artist: Gotay
Genre: Reggaeton
Nationality: Puerto Rican
Release date: February 16
Position in Discography: Second
Fear Factor: Moderate
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: N/A
Another album that's virtually impossible to track down! I love how Frownland commented that I was “only listening to the most popular albums”! The last one on the list I couldn't find at all, and this one, though I can find it on YouTube only, seems not to exist anywhere: no information on Wiki, Discogs, RYM, anywhere. Yeah, real popular!

Anyway, I've experienced one Reggaeton album so far before this, and it was quite cool. This is the second offering by Alexis Allejandro Gotay Perez, who shortens his name, obviously, to Gotay. Other than that, I can tell you nothing about it other than what I hear. Basically it's decent enough, nothing that sets my pulses racing or makes me want to find out where I can get the rest of his music. It's also very frustrating when there isn't even a track listing to refer to, but there you go. Not, I feel, as good as the other reggaeton album I listened to earlier, but not bad.

Check out more from this artist? Probably not
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes
