The single sexiest top hat in history. Too bad it covers the single sexiest beehive. I really like the ultra-bored band members too. Especially the guy with the pointless double guitar.

Album title: The Continuous Evilution of Life's ?'s Artist: Twiztid Genre: Hip-Hop/Horrorcore/Rap Rock/Indie Rap Nationality: American Release date: January 27 Position in Discography: Eleventh Fear Factor: Critical Familiar with this artist? Have never heard them but Batty has ensured I have heard of them Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No Average RYM Score: 3.44 I'm not going to say well I enjoyed ICP more than I had expected when I listened to them, although I did. I feel that was perhaps an aberration, or maybe they're the best the genre has to offer. This, I feel, I will hate, but I've been wrong enough times before to take nothing for granted. Hmm. I don't hate the first track, in fact I like it a lot. “Kill Somebody” is just so hilarious it's brilliant. Ah, the chainsaw at the end is the icing on the cake. “You're not killing him!” They kind of overextend the joke a little though. “Black Clouds” is a really good song though to be fair (wonder if the cloud cops arrest those as much as the white clouds?) I kind of like the mix of rock/metal with the rap here; in places it works quite well. You can't take this stuff seriously of course, but they come across as kind of well-meaning, lovable buffoons who are (maybe) trying to be all hard and tough, but fail miserably and in so doing provide some great comic relief, which is something I needed today, so thanks guys. Then they throw in some soul and r&B for “Come On Let's Get High” and it's actually a really great song that brings you back to the days of Marvin and Curtis. Nice. Off topic sort of but sorry, I just had to post this: stated that the album would be out before the Gathering of the Juggalos 2016. “Psychomania” is another hilarious track and yeah, it ends well as an album. This was a lot of fun and I had no problem getting to the end. Colour me surprised. Check out more from this artist? You know, I just might Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Possibly Expectation Index: 10

Album title: Ty Segall Artist: Ty Segall Genre: Garage Rock Nationality: American Release date: January 27 Position in Discography: Ninth Fear Factor: Moderate Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No Average RYM Score: 3.31 Garage Rock eh? I seem to remember the last time I experienced this it wasn't terrible. But sigh: the guy does not make it easy to find his album; his debut, released in 2008, is also self-titled, so while I thought I had found this one on Spotify, it wasn't it, but the debut, and so I had to go looking on YouTube. I don't quite understand the idea of releasing only some albums onto Spotify. If you or your label don't want to let your music be used on Spotify then fine, but if you let it be used then let it all be there. Very annoying. Anyway, decent rocky start, seems very very dated, but maybe that's the point with Garage Rock? I wouldn't know. But I feel like I'm listening to a seventies hard rock band or something. OK, I have to admit: I'm bored out of my skull here. It's only just over half an hour long but it already seems like it might be too long to wait. We'll see how it goes but I'm only on the fourth track of ten and I already wish it was over. Oh no wait: that was only the third track. The fourth, however is a nice slow blues number which may go some way towards redeeming this. Yeah, it did but generally speaking I could not care less about this music. That track aside, it's just boring. I didn't bail out, but if the album had been longer I might have. Check out more from this artist? No Check out more from this genre or subgenre? I'll hope not to Expectation Index: 9

Album title: South Texas Suite Artist: Whitney Rose Genre: Country/Folk/World Music Nationality: American Release date: January 27 Position in Discography: First EP, fourth overall Fear Factor: Moderate Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little Average RYM Score: 3.23 Heading out of January at last. Only three or four more albums to go, and this is an EP so that makes it that bit shorter. Sort of a Mexican sound to the first track, nice accordion, not mad about the second one though: too fifties cutesy-poo. So is the next one. And the next. Very twee. Not my thing now at all. Check out more from this artist? No Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Expectation Index: 0

Album title: Theater of Dimensions Artist: Xandria Genre: Symphonic Metal/Power Metal/Prog Metal Nationality: German Release date: January 27 Position in Discography: Seventh Fear Factor: Very Low Familiar with this artist? I've heard one album Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Very Average RYM Score: 3.24 The last time I welcomed the arrival of a heavy metal album it bored the hell out of me, so I'm not jumping up and down just yet. Plus, I remember listening to one album by these guys and not being exactly impressed. But at least it's better than sugary-sweet country pop, so we'll give it a chance. But I have to say, I'm getting tired of these female operatic singers. I mean, it's a cliche now and quite annoying. Meh, it's very generic too. Kind of like listening to Nightwish without the ... well ... kind of like listening to Nightwish really. Celtic air to “Forsaken Love”: nobody's ever done that before! Oh no! Now they've decided to have some “unclean vocals” on one of the tracks, and it's still as boring as ****! Let me predict: one, maybe two ballads, one possibly on piano or acoustic guitar (or both), another instrumental and I can already see a fifteen-minute epic to close. It's gonna be a tough ride. Oh, here's the first of the ballads. And yes, it's piano-driven. It's like someone is building a symphonic metal album from a pre-programmed pattern. Lord this is boring. Oh my god! The “rhyme” in “Ship of Doom” is embarrassing --- “One, two, three, four, listen to the cannon's roar” ... you get the idea. And here comes the other instrumental. Oh, I know: let's make it Celtic sounding: that's a new idea! Well, not really Celtic, but sure, if we call it “Ceili” and throw our idea of an Irish reel on it, who will know the difference? Okay, now for some odd reason they think they're Slayer, though they're not even Flesh Wounder. Oh god make it stop! You know, I think I will. **** this. I've done my best to last this out, but this is as far as I go. **** Xandria. I knew I shouldn't have given them another chance. Check out more from this artist? No way Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Expectation Index: 10
