Not according to the list. But there was a ****load on April 21.
Also, I've been on April 21 for some time and you're only noticing now? Keep up, can't you?

Edit: and there I was, like a fool, thinking you actually wanted to talk about the last album, instead of just finding fault and making pithy comments as usual. Should have known better.

Didnt mean to **** in your cereal mate. I just think it's odd. Mostly wiki's fault if what you say is true.

Haven't heard the album and am really not familiar with Latin Jazz outside of a few big names like Tito Puente and Cal Tjader.

I just wondered. I mean, it clicked with me from the first few beats. Jazz hasn't done that for me much if at all. When this is all over I might go looking for recs, would you be the man or should I look elsewhere?

Also, if you check back through the list there are tons of days when albums aren't (according to Wiki anyway) released. I haven't checked, but perhaps they're weekends? Anyway it happens a lot more frequently than you might expect.

First track is almost pure drone (I think); just one long expression really with very little in the way of variation, and this continues into the second track (all of which are labelled with the title of the album, so “Narkopop 1”, “Narkopop 2” etc) which brings in some fuzzy percussion. Knd of reminds me of Solar Fields, whom I didn't get at first but now really enjoy. Same sort of progression going through much, if not all, of the album. Makes it hard to review, but a pleasure to listen to. It's really lulling, quite hypnotic and I can see why drone is becoming so popular.

When I first saw this artist on the list I assumed it was a female singer. It's not: it's a band, and this is their first EP. Four tracks only, and it's enough. This guy thinks he's Plant, but he's nowhere near as good. This is totally average. And this band won “Best New Band” of 2017? Says it all really. The poor man's Zep. Actually, not even that. Pretty terrible. Nice organ outro on “Flower Power” (seriously!) but that's about it.

I must admit, when this kicks off it's a far cry from Mayhem, the other album of hers that I heard. Much more restrained, much softer and more gentle. She also collaborates with the legendary T Bone Burnett on this album. Not only that, but guitar legend Jeff Beck lends his inimitable talents to “Black Tears”, which is a beautiful bluesy ballad, and by the way Frown, Marc Ribot is on every track here too. Sadly, Bono gets a namecheck - “mentoring and guidance”: Jesus Christ! - but this has started really really well, much better than I had expected. She really gets to let her voice loose on “Should've Been You”, a good mid-tempo rocker and “Human” has a very country feel to it; I'd possibly rate it as one of the standouts on the album.

Mind you, it might have to share that honour with “How Bad Can a Good Girl Be”, a real smoky, sensual, smouldering (and lots of other adjectives beginning with s) ballad and then there's the superlative gospel of “When It's My Time”, on which Jools Holland from Squeeze guests. Some people will probably point out similarities between Imelda and Lana, but the Irishwoman was here first. Like, almost a decade before her. I'd have to say, we should be proud of Imelda May: it's rare that a talent like this comes out of our small country.

Marc Ribot does a lot of stuff. Is that track a good representation of the album? Wasn't into it really.

There are some different styles on it, but kind of yeah. Like I said, I'd compare this to one of Lana's, though I feel this is better. There are some weak tracks. I didn't feel that one was one though.

I have to say, this is pretty basic rock so far, nothing at all different or memorable standing out. It says a lot, perhaps, that I don't hear anything to attract me until the sixth track, “Loneliest”, and even then that's just all right; better than what has gone before but not brilliant by any means. An oddly Queen-like tune with Mexican flair, “When I Became a Man” is another interesting one, but it's less than a minute, so more a novelty than an actual song. Perhaps some people might consider it Beefheartesque in a way, I don't know. It's certainly different.

It kind of falls back into mediocrity then, though “Make No Sound In the Digital Forest” is an interesting instrumental, but there's only one song left now, so I can't see my opinion of this changing. And it didn't. This is a very ordinary album with nothing really to pique my interest.
