Album title: Already All Ready Artist: La'Porscha Renae Genre: Pop Nationality: American Release date: March 31 Position in Discography: Debut Estimated Rating: Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? A little Average RYM Score: Okay, maybe I'm not being very fair here, but when I hear the words X Factor or American Idol contestant/finalist, I drop my expectations to the floor. This could of course turn out to be one of the best albums released this year, but going from the cover (yeah I know), her name and the American Idol link, well, let's just say if that happens I know what I'll be getting Satan for Christmas: a nice new shiny pair of ice skates. At least the opener, “What is Love” is not a cover of the Haddaway song, and then rather surprisingly, a powerful bluesy puncher follows in “Good Woman”, her voice well suited to this kind of music. This, I have to admit, is damn impressive. Better than expected. Lovely strings arrangement accompanying “Breathe”, the first ballad, but the next two tracks are pretty poor in fairness, one of which is the title track, so was “Breathe” the zenith of the album, and is it all downhill from here? It does seem that way. The next two tracks are quite substandard, generic and rather annoying, especially whoever the male is that joins her for “Will You Fight” (there is virtually no information on this album so I don't know who he is, but damn is he irritating, and he's back for “Send Me Your Love”) and that leaves us with two tracks. The closer is a decent ballad, but overall, while this wasn't quite as vacuous and bland as I had anticipated, and there are some few very good songs on it, it's still not any sort of a revelation. Check out more from this artist? Probably, on balance, no Check out more from this genre or subgenre? I'm sure I will Actual Rating:

Don't do it Hawk! I was in debt for most of my adult life. The day I was finally free was a great one, and I would never do it again.

My debt's better. When you're bogged down by my debt, you can be sure that you'll have no other debts to worry about for the rest of your life (because I'll buy them and sell them back to you with mad interest). We have teacher programs too!

That depends on you. Don't ask about upfront fees though.
