Default How do you organize your playlists?

I listen to a ton of different genres of music, so having a bunch of playlists is pretty much the only way to avoid chaos for me. I'm curious on how everyone organizes their playlists (weather on Spotify/iTunes/etc). Here are mine:

Chill
Chill Rap/Hip Hop
Rap/Hip-Hop
EDM
Electronic
Indie
80s
90s/00s
Synthwave
Dark Retro Wave

My favorites, and then everything else. That's the only sorting method I use now.
Used to also sort after metal/non-metal, but I don't anymore.

I listen to albums more often than playlists, so that's probably why I don't bother categorizing things very specifically.

I organize on my PC into folders according to subgenre. So, say, Art Pop has a folder by itself. Inside Art Pop are any albums that fall mainly into that subgenre, like a lot of Björk's stuff.

Then when I want to listen to a certain main genre (like right now I'm listening to pop), I'll grab all albums from all pop subgenre folders and drop them into Clementine.

Hit play! Enjoy.

I make boatloads of playlists for a variety of reasons. Here are some of the different kinds I have:
  • Genre specific (ex. "Gabber").
  • Related genres (ex. "Bossa Nova + Tropicalia").
  • Interesting genre mixes (ex. "Death Disco", which is death metal and disco).
  • Broad umbrella categories (ex. "Vintage Latin").
  • Time periods (ex. "Early 20th Century").
  • Specific concepts (ex. "Shag Rug Van").
  • Specific moods (ex. "Bad Day").
  • All projects by a particular artist (ex. "Justin Broadrick").

I honestly don't know entirely. I'm typically too lazy to fully organize my longer playlists (which are usually created around a vague theme or mood and arranged to create a story, sort of) but when I do I mostly just try to make sure the song transitions are as smooth as possible.

You can't be too lazy if you put your playlists in order! All mine are a bunch of songs in a folder that I listen to on shuffle.

I usually sort mine based on genre. But I have a guilty pleasures list, too. And I have a list where I put things I hear and don't want to forget but I'm not sure if I want to commit to adding it to a playlist. I have a playlist for songs I might eventually want to put in a playlist... That sounds weird now that I type it out.

Personally, there's no organization in my playlists on my phone. Just hit shuffle, and be on my way listening to music.
On the other hand, if I'm making a playlist on YouTube, I have to separate the artists so it's not 10 songs in a row by the same musician. I don't know why I do this, it's just an instinct, I suppose.
