I've always assumed that something like hick-hop or some other unholy equivalent to that must exist. Seeing as people like Kid Rock still exist. (Also, wasn't there a brief period many moons ago where rappers and country artists and Kid Rock types often collaborated to make spectacularly awful songs?)
