Commercial vs Creative Peak
Do you think an artist's reaching their creative peak coincides with, or outlasts their reaching their commercial peak? In other words, can it be often the case that, having "broken commercially", a band or singer can then produce far superior music that is ignored by the mainstream media, and if this is the case, does it hint that with the perhaps pressure of following up a big hit album (with maybe one or two less popular ones already released) an artist can feel freer, less bound by album sales and the need to make hits, and can then create better music that matters to them, even if it does not hit the charts or sell albums as well as their big name album(s) did?
