Soundtrack of Your Dreams
My other thread failed but it wasn't very wide enough and this is just an all around better idea
Post tracks perfect for any given scene, and describe that scene. Some kinda romantic montage A strange tour of a mystical shaman's abode The arrival of a love interest on a dark train ride Trippin |

I've been wanting a thread like this, but had been too lazy to make it. I spend an embarrassing amount of time making imaginary soundtracks. (and alternate soundtracks for existing movies)
This one I could see being used in a river baptism scene at dusk with black pines and carrion birds swirling overhead in some horror film set in 1930s appalachia. (Or alternately, in a scene where somebody attempts to drown themselves in an icy lake somewhere in a Russian forest) I always thought Chet's voice (and the lyrics, somewhat) was incredibly creepy in this song, so I always pictured this being used in a stalker scene-- or perhaps one where a man is preparing an immaculate meal by candelight while a woman tied to a chair watches. Okay, this will sound a bit silly, but I've always wanted to write a children's book about a gang of odd animal friends (plus a frog-girl and magical luchadore) that live in a landfill and dream of escaping and going out to sea, and this song would be absolutely perfect for the moment they sail off on their ramshackle ship into the fog, I think. Star-crossed lovers escaping a cult and running through a forest as the others (the deranged cult leaders, covered in blood and white paint and wearing deer antlers) pursue them. A silent exchange in a near-empty empty dive bar or 1950s juke joint in the deep south, followed by a long, slow walk (a pursual of someone illuminated only by headlights from a distance--yes, yet another stalker scene) down a long gravel road. I'll post lots more later. |

Being led by a beautiful yet monstrous creature into a cave dripping with phosphorescent algae while the world outside falls into ruin
Dozing off on a train hurtling toward the setting sun A depressed man floating on his back in a suburban backyard swimming pool during a rainstorm Obligatory whimsical falling-in-love montage |

Rounding up the bourgeoisie and sacrificing them to a volcano god after the world ends while everyone dances merrily in a whirlwind of red rose petals
An albino deer walking through a cemetery at dawn as a mourner lays on a child's grave Running from a tornado (and some unseen beast) through the marshlands Being seduced by some fae creature in the woods (in the Tam Lin film adaptation of my dreams) A slow-motion dream sequence in a massive underground labyrinth filled with whirling dervishes, mirrors and jewels A heartbroken circus performer drunkenly renting a hot air balloon and floating up toward the moon after being rejected by the love of his life Last edited by Chiomara; 07-01-2017 at 04:37 PM. A scene where one wakes to find themselves being dragged from the ocean across a black sand beach into a ruined temple filled with incense smoke where they are then gingerly touched, anointed and decorated by numerous shadowy hands
(mine are probably getting a bit too specific but I can't control what my garbage brain shows me) This is really lovely. |

Passing out in a Denny's parking lot and astral projecting onto some luminous beach
A gravely ill housewife serenely committing suicide alone on a fluffy bed during a rainy afternoon (while a record plays faintly down the hall) Someone barricaded in a crevice under ice in the arctic, trying desperately to stay awake and not succumb to sleep and the cold while watching the aurora borealis overhead and falling in and out of strange dreams Two people looking for each other in a crowded seaside carnival at night A knife fight between a wildly hallucinating person and a golem made in their image who are both ultimately killed by the demonic goatman/Pan-esque beast who led them both there This thread is terrible for my maladaptive daydreaming problem |
