Exactly. I'll agree with a vinyl aficionado that the size of vinyl cover artwork beats that of a CD any day of the week, but the argument that the crackling noises of vinyl somehow makes it sound better and more warm or something... That's just a desperate reach.

Plus CD's (as far as I know) can span a wider dynamic range than vinyl. If anyone decided to make use of it.

Vinyl is fine, but the handful I have, I have for the artwork.

Totally worthless now
You're not really wrong. They're a digital medium, but we can move data digitally with no disc medium in-between effortlessly now. I don't know why I insist on buying CD's in 2017, but I do. I use Spotify and all that alongside with it. It's... Yeah I don't know... Humans just like to have a thing in their hands that they can touch and look at and feel ownership of.

I rarely go back to either but I'm more likely to go back to my vinyl. It may not sound better but there's a romantic nostalgic ambience about it. Spinning a record when you're stoned. Feels good. And the Ramones sound better because of how the CDs are mixed.

lol at CDs
But then I'd have to actually listen to the vinyl, but I'd rather listen to a CD.

Look, the whole thing is pointless so let's not argue about whose habits are least backwards.

Again, the first dude to fully take advantage of digital IMO.

I have no particular intention of buying a record player anytime this decade, but I've definitely been tempted to buy vinyl just for the artwork (Not to mention that leafing through a crate full of vinyl is infinitely more satisfying than awkward CD cases.)

Spoiler for uyijubhenrsdciygdhbfivkjbhsdinc:

OMG gimme giant pictures of all that ****.

You buy vinyl if you're looking for the "experience" and something actually tangible, often times you'll still listen to the digital version
I still buy the occasional CD for old time's sake, but I never listen to any of them anymore since my music folder on my computer is my real collection these days, so it would only make sense that if I'm being self-indulgent enough to buy a format I'm not even going to bother with besides the novelty of having a cool looking thing to hold in my hands that it might as well be the bigger and better looking one. But I still bought two CDs the other day for the first time in forever just cause I'm used to buying them and not vinyl. And because it would kind of make me feel like one of those hipster *******s I keep seeing around the forum like Justthefacts or Qwerty.

You do know that CD's have artwork and booklets too? Nice carboard fold-outs are pretty common these days. Plus I can't use a vinyl with the old stereo I've had since I was 18 years old.
But really, It's just a thing I never stopped doing. It made sense in the late 90's, and I'm still doing it. That's really all there is to it.

Yeah but you probably don't like this so everything you say is worthless and of the devil.
