Boycott Artists Who Boycott Spotify

I was just listening to the Unsane and realized that there debut LP isn't on Spotify. Until they get it on their I'm not listening to the Unsane unless I'm driving and it's on CD. I already have that record but I'm not... you know, I'm protesting. If they come to town I might even ask them to put up that record. Are they still together? I would still go see them live. I'm not listening to their other stuff on Spotify so they can forget that .00075 cents per listen from me or whatever it is.

This sounds like a thread I would make. And get ridiculed for.

Whachaknowbout the Unsane?

RJDG14 06-17-2017 05:21 PM

How many artists are there who have pulled their stuff or not released it on Spotify? These are the ones I know of:

*Taylor Swift
*Peter Gabriel
*Neil Young
*Prince
*Thom Yorke

Other artists have said they aren't keen on Spotify but haven't pulled their music from it.

Many have everything except what you actually want to listen to on there. **** them.

Goofle 06-17-2017 05:25 PM

How exactly are they getting ripped off? Either they agreed to be on the platform, or their label did on their behalf. In each case, you signed off on it.

The availability of your music is widely accessible, meaning you can build up a bigger fanbase than you would without Spotify and your chances of selling actual records and getting more people to watch you live are increased.

Nothing, other than they're one of bob's favourite bands. I just meant if I made this topic I guarantee it'd be like "they don't owe you a living dude" etc.

I feel this is a very personal and intimate question.

This is very true. Like every album from '68 on except the new one you really want to hear, or their most famous classic. Happens all the time. Or, worse, you can get the album but then get "this song/these songs is/are not available. If you have the song you can upload it." If I ****ing had it, why would I be trying to find it you dicks???

I edited my post so maybe you would have added more in response, but you don't have to sign for a major label and you can negotiate terms if you would rather not give away more of the money you earn.

It surely will impact on their business though in the long run. I mean, why keep paying 9.99 a month if half the stuff you want you can't access there? Eventually I'm going to be saying **** this and cancelling my subscription if it goes on like this. There seems to be a larger percentage now that I can't get there than I can, and some of the stuff that used to be available is no longer there.

Goofle 06-17-2017 05:38 PM

I'm sure Spotify would react to that situation. Or they would go out of business.
