Odd that I don't see a thread about this already, but anyway. Some of my favourites.
Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush - Don't Give Up David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth U2 and BB King - When Love Comes to Town

There's a few collab threads but they all focus on favourites/best.
![]() Colin Stetson and Mats Gustafsson - Stones Take two of the best modern saxophonists in the game and it should be mindblowing, right? Nope. This album is essentially two solo pieces simply laid on top of each other. I say that as a person who loves messy free improvisation. There's not enough musical dialogue to sustain more than five minutes of this lazy album. It might have just been their first time jamming together for a live performance, but the end result is incredibly disappointing. Another album that lays the artists' sounds over each other in just the laziest, least-inspired way possible is Sun Kil-Moon and Jesu's first collab. The ideal collab for me is when it comes out to something totally different from the artists' original work without sacrificing or diluting their sound. Instead of the above artists following the formula of a + b = c, they went with a + b = b + a and it's so ****ing boring.

Worst: Agree about Jagger and Bowie. Still the most cringeworthy video ever.
Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin collaborating was also a trainwreck.

Worst.
Percy Howard, Charles Hayward, Fred Frith & Bill Laswell - Meridiem So, this is basically Massacre, one of the most amazing free rock bands ever. And then there's Percy Howard, whose vocals are just so ****ing cringy, I've never been able to listen to more than one track on this. Is the music itself at least good? I seriously don't know because the vocals just suck the joy out of everything going on here. What the hell were those three thinking collaborating with that clown?
