Screamo is a branch of aggressive emo music, but it shouldn't be a catch-all for music with screaming in it, such as death metal or power electronics.

Certainly not. I don't mind songs with some screaming in them if it is fitting. I just really don't like people screaming an entire song aggressively for the sake of screaming when the song would be perfectly fine without screaming.

Depending on how much you like heavy music, you might get into it in the future. I used to not be into it either, but now I've swung in the other direction to where I'm usually not a fan of metal with melodic vocals. Also, as a side note (not directly based on anything you said), I want to mention that all screamers are not created equal. I think people think of cliched brutal death metal vocals when they talk about screaming, but the variety in the music world is so much more dynamic than that. Couple of examples: https://resurrectionists.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled (this is screamo, btw, the rest are not) I think this screamer is especially great. And I think this guy SUCKS (even though the music is pretty brilliant)

I was at a bar once and the bartender played this (I'm assuming) whole album and I left after 20 minutes even though they had good beer. I couldn't stand it any longer. It's just so goddamn awful.
