Great movie though. Tarsem Singh is brilliant.

Johnny Cash sucks because Hank Williams never listened to one of his records.

EDIT: Chula beat me to the punch. They actually did the soundtrack. Lol nah. They're a landmark post-punk band, probably not your dig. You surprise me sometimes though, like with Death Grips.

The case with Zepplin and D. Purple is interesting, I give it that for sure.
Blues IS the original foundation for a great chunk of 20th century genres, early metal included but there is a point which Sabbath definitely pushed where they moved from being blues or hard rock (they did start off as a blues band called Earth, believe it or not!) The pentatonic scale was surely prevalent before the outburst of metal subgenres in the 90s, Sabbath, Priest, Maiden etc still used them in solos. D. Purples influence can be blatantly felt in Priest and Maiden to some extent but the same can't really be said the other way around. I don't really think you could confuse Highway Star or Space Trucking for Maiden for example but the influence is there. D. Purple seemed to have more influence on early prog metal tbh (in the late 80s) but maybe it's just me. But I find the birth of metal a highly fascinating thing (just like trying to find the most dissonant classical works before the 20th century), sometimes things can surprise you!

No, just context with the the years surrounding Sgt Pepper, other albums that were released. Some stuff I've found to be quite shocking, The Monk one for sure was not your average rock record
