Default Nerdalicious

What are your nerdiest bands/songs and why?

For instance Apples in Stereo made up a new scale based on natural logarithms.

I guess Kate Bush kind of qualifies for writing a song about Wuthering Heights.

What else can you think of?

Disclaimer: err, according to wikipedia nerdcore is an actual genre. The thread title was merely a joke genre and was not intended to refer to the hip hop(?) sub genre.

As far as 'nerdy' bands go, Rush's spacey, indulgent lyrics fit the bill

Yeah, see disclaimer. I used the term nerdcore before I realised it was (apparently) already a thing.

Yeah I was going by the thread title. Honestly, if you're going to use spacey nerdy lyrics as a criterion then you're gonna have Hawkwind, Gong and a thousand other space/prog/psych rock bands in there, aren't you?

I guess I'm kind of finding it hard to pin down exactly what constitutes a "nerdy" band?

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I love that.

For me, probably Barenaked Ladies. They did the Big Bang Theory theme song, for crying out loud.
