If you're down to compile them yourself, by all means that is a great idea.

I don't see the problem in downloading a ZIP file of MP3s. Apart from anything else, as rostasi says, if there are very obscure things on the list and you have to make YTs for them, that can be a pain, and you as the uploader can then get emails telling you to remove them. I'm not sure having a YT playlist instead of a downloadable MP3 list would increase anyone's participation, to say nothing of the fact that you can listen to the list on the move without having to be connected to the net, as you do for YouTube? I prefer the current format personally.

1. The Batlord: Waylon Jennings - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
He has a great voice. I'm not a huge fan of the harmonica in general (too fixed unless you've got a chromatic) and this track is no exception, but it's a pretty solid country track nonetheless. 6/10 2. Kiii: Genesis - Cats With Hats I'm going to assume this is a CWH track and not a Genesis one. Very cool industrial flavoured IDM stuff, absolutely not what I expected Kiii to make (I was under the impression that he aspired to the boring **** YorkeDaddy plays). Sounds like a minimal sample processed to death in Audacity (in a good way). 8/10 3. Frownland: Mike Cooper - Industrial Hazard My track. Grinding, droning, screeching guitar suites with haunting poetry delivered in a Bowie/Scott Walker-esque manner. The "are you smiling?" lyric sends chills down my spine. Gotta give props to rostasi for showing me this one. 10/10 4. Trollheat: Sleep Thieves - Sparks 80s inspired dance pop with a singer that's sounds lot like Lorde. I was pretty bored with this one. The stuff kids listen to these days, amiright? 2/10 5. zer0: Nick Cave Dolls - Bongwater Kicks off with some messy musique concrete stuff dancing back and forth between the glitchy samples before going into a psychedelic droney thing with narration. I was expecting a Nick Cave song, so getting a Bongwater track was a bit of a surprise. The instrumentation on this one is great, especially the fat bass. The narrator reminds me of this track. One of the best ones on this list. 10/10 6. Dr_Rez: Steel Pulse - Born Fe Rebel I saw these guys at the Del Mar Fair once with a girl I took the horse races because they were playing for free. Really entertaining show watching security trying to stop people from smoking weed, since each time they halted a doob's journey, six more popped up in its place. That being said, this is not my thing at all. Guy has kind of a cool voice and the horns are cool, but that's about it. 3.5/10 7. Aloysius: Aloysius - Cosmos Is this you dude? Flamenco style track with excellent guitars (two I think) all over the track. Nothing to complain about here except the percussion could have been a tad bit more interesting. The guitar is clearly the focus and they earned it though. 9/10 8. rostasi: David Holmes - I Heard Wonders Love the krautrock elements on this, mainly the driving drum rhythms and electronics. Not into his breathy singing though (feels tacked on and unnecessary) and the happier sounding dream pop elements that this track takes on though. Overall the song kind of bored me. Bummer since I was looking forward to what you'd share but your track record still beats everyone else's. 3.5/10

1. The Batlord: Waylon Jennings - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
I feel like I need to own a big pick-up truck to enjoy this. Not awful, but just not my cup of tea. 2. Kiii: Cats With Hats - Genesis Well this was interesting. Can't really say whether I enjoyed it or not, but it has a big scary industrial vibe. Thought this was going to be either the band Genesis or a Grimes cover 3. Frownland: Mike Cooper - Industrial Hazard I dig the contrast between the vocals and the noisy free-form music. It also reminded me of The Drift-era Scott Walker. Definitely the best of the bunch. 4. Trollheat: Sleep Thieves - Sparks I'm aware of this band as they're from Dublin. This is decent enough synthpop, but something which has already been done to death at this stage. 5. Zer0: Bongwater - Nick Cave Dolls Some Bongwater songs loose their novelty after a few plays, but not this magnificent weird and sexy number. 6. Dr_Rez: Steel Pulse - Born Fe Rebel This is very polished and commercial-sounding reggae. Didn't really do much for me. 7. Aloysius: Aloysius - Cosmos Aloysius you're not a bad guitar player This kind of music is not something I usually listen to but I can appreciate this. 8. rostasi: David Holmes - I Heard Wonders Sounds like The Jesus and Mary Chain with some keyboards thrown in. Nothing mind-blowing but I liked it.

1. The Batlord: Waylon Jennings - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
This is an excellent Country/Americana track, and yes, it makes you feel like you should be out on some lonesome highway in a pickup truck with your arm out the window and watching cows and mountains and rolling hills. Superb. A true master of the art. 9/10 2. Kiii: Genesis - Cats With Hats No idea what to make of this. None. Sounds like a big hollow drum loop repeated with someone (Ki?) breathing some kind of vocal, but again, it's not my cup of tea. Sorry. 2/10 3. Frownland: Mike Cooper - Industrial Hazard Sounds a bit like Bryan Ferry singing at first. The feedback guitar (?) is pretty good really, some discordance as you'd expect from a Frownland pick (the lyric even has the word "eccentric" in it). Not bad though. 6/10 4. Trollheart: Sleep Thieves - Sparks Pop isn't normally my thing but like Chvrches this just really grabbed me. Love her voice, plus of course any chance to rep a good Irish band I'll take. **** you haters. 9/10 5. zer0: Nick Cave Dolls - Bongwater Don't get this. Sounds like Klaus from American Dad at the start, then someone muttering about how he doesn't know about things, more sound samples, a woman talking and finally some music begins. The music's ok I guess, nothing special. No vocals other than this woman talking. She has a nice voice, sure, but this does nothing for me. Has maybe a VU feel to it? Meh. 4/10 6. Dr_Rez: Steel Pulse - Born Fe Rebel Not big into reggae but this is pretty fun. Hard not to like this really. Feet definitely tapping here. Is there a bit of Jungle in here? Meh, still really excellent. 8/10 7. Aloysius: Aloysius - Cosmos This is pretty impressive. I'm not into flamenco but even I know when someone has talent, and this guy certainly does. Would be interested in hearing more. 9/10 8. rostasi: David Holmes - I Heard Wonders This is ****ing excellent. Great guitar work, super melody, like the vocals too. Great stuff. 10/10

1. The Batlord: Waylon Jennings - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
Somewhat unfairly I was expecting not to like this, as it's country. I was wrong though, what a fantastic voice, and the rhythm section worked really well with the singing. 2. Kiii: Genesis - Cats With Hats Loved this, original and exhilarating, and everything sits well in the stereo space so that you feel like you're in the middle of the landscape. 3. Frownland: Mike Cooper - Industrial Hazard There were some fantastic sounds going on here and some thought provoking lyrics. While I didn't love the singing voice this track made me want to listen to more of this artist's stuff. 4. Trollheat: Sleep Thieves - Sparks This reminded me of Blondie, Nina, and other stuff I remember from my early teens, so it served as a welcome hit of nostalgia. 5. zer0: Nick Cave Dolls - Bongwater Not completely sold on this yet but will give it more listens. 6. Dr_Rez: Steel Pulse - Born Fe Rebel Not a fan of this - reminds me a lot of The Cat Empire who a huge here in Australia. 7. Aloysius: Aloysius - Cosmos I recorded this last month for an upcoming album - there's 1 guitar track, 1 percussion track (cajón, played by my friend). I can't say what I think of it yet, I'm too self critical and need more time to pass from the recording session, but thanks for the feedback guys! 8. rostasi: David Holmes - I Heard Wonders I quite liked this, not what I would usually listen to but interesting - feels like a pop song but with more than meets the eye going on. __________________ |

I listened with my ears. What are you, Frownland Mark III? I didn't like it. Sorry man but it did nothing for me. You should just accept that.
Also, you should see what they're saying about your boy Devin in the Album Review Club thread. Just sayin'...
