Summer bled of Eden
Easter's heir uncrowns Another destiny lies leeched Upon the ground Everybody needs someone to live by Everybody needs someone Everybody needs someone to live by Rage on omnipotent A gilded wreath of reason The flower crushed conceives A child of fragrance so much clearer In legacy Everybody needs someone to live by Everybody needs someone to live by Everybody needs someone to live by Rage on omnipotent

Crouched and cold on a slate grey day in the Southern world
Self obsessed on a crumbling couch for hours Quite alone as is usual for the things we are Quite unable to go beyond what’s ours And it seems like nothing can penetrate through the outer skin And it feels like nothing on earth has ever got in Locked for life with a friend I’ve known for a thousand years Known like no-one I’ve ever known before We’re as close as two coats of paint on a wind-swept wall But I’ll never know what sits at the other’s call And it seems like nothing can penetrate through the outer skin And it feels like nothing on earth has ever got in |

It's a wild chance
You take a passion stance Everything is touch and go Everything is MAGICO Who you tease You wanna please Who you please You'd follow What do you do with the urge Going for broke Going for bravado When you go go for all you know EVERYTHING is touch and go Everything is MAGICO What do you do with the urge You wanna set your hunter's sights You wanna hit the stars tonight You wanna use your magic rights You wanna hit the stars tonight GO WITH THE URGE

And you fly in the face of the sun
And you float in the tides of the moon The paths that run from your dark Climb through the trees Wind like a snake The kind you can't escape The kind you can't conceive The kind you can't believe With prickly little thorns Sharp tiny teeth They are hungry for the threads Hanging from your sleeve Waiting on a path The kind you can't conceive But wish you could take Wish you could leave I wish you could see It leads you to me |

I got bone-blade stick with termite holes
That I could swing at a skull when I'm feeling quite bold I got a flea market bike without any brakes With my boot heels getting all the concrete scrapes Cruising over a bridge with the sunset gold I've been pedaling for miles, feel 1000 years old Got a roll of cash in the side of my sock Sipping Colt 45 in the lot, kicking rocks I got the low rent solitary cool like a fool in the summertime My death wish mind and my brown dog eyes see the wavering lines |

Terminal, what disease
Told me too late What's this cough and wheeze? Fatal, you're ****tin' me A second opinion Is what I need Laughin' in a windstorm Blowin' all the cornstalks down Cryin' in a funeral home Forward my mail, six feet underground |

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals I get my back into my living I don't need to fight To prove I'm right I don't need to be forgiven Don't cry Don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland Sally, take my hand Travel south crossland Put out the fire Don't look past my shoulder The exodus is here The happy ones are near Let's get together Before we get much older Teenage wasteland It's only teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland Oh, oh Teenage wasteland They're all wasted! (Townsend's response to his experience at Woodstock)

In the scullery of the cub-hut my clarinet falls
Into a sack of flour - a flurry of pins Squashed into the leather handle A crescent moon of sleeping fig-wasps Drizzling my fingers with The Magic Sponge Dad says 'we'll probably have to chop them off' He collapses like a canvas tent on the floodlit astroturf Rent by a fibula guide-rod poking a hole through his shin There are teardrops in his moustache Charging a flute of champagne Down the aisle and out for a throw-in A St. John's ambulance careers between the sugary pillars of the wedding cake
