Patsy Cline - Showcase
I came into this expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised in the sense that it was a lot more pleasant than most modern country I've heard - although that's like saying it was a lot more pleasant than having my nuts nailed to the ground. Mercifully the steel guitar is very low in the mix, and the sound of the (acoustic) bass is really good - for me it suits this music better than the electric bass in most modern country. The songs themselves (apart from crazy) I just found too dull and predictable, and while I appreciate that Patsy is a great singer within that world, that style of singing just doesn't move me. 5/10 |
