The Gris Gris - The Gris Gris
I remember these guys getting a fair amount of attention a little over a decade ago thanks to Pitchfork and the rest of the indie blogosphere, and they definitely have 1966 - '68 down to a fuzzy wuzzy T, which to me is a good thing (for the most part). Their biggest strength and weakness as a group really is how closely they stick to their influences...The Gods and Love are all over 'Everytime', 'Best Regards' and the blissful 'Raygun'. Some have likened them to Pink Floyd pre-Meddle in a sense, but they don't have quite enough whimsy to fall into that wheelhouse (though 'Winter Weather' sounds like a lost Meddle B-side to be fair). While not up there for me like Lumerians, Drakkar Nowhere or Ariel Pink as far as the whole neo-psych schtick goes, this is a great album. 7.5 out of 10!

Sorry, I missed last week. I've been very busy..
The Gris Gris - The Gris Gris I have heard and I do like this album. Not my favorite, but I really enjoy the slower somber parts. I have never really paid much attention to the lyrics, and I do find the vocalist a bit meh at times (too whiny?), but it doesn't prevent me from enjoying. Favorite track is Everytime. Least favorite track is Best Regards, it's long and too abrasive towards the end. I would never sit down and listen to this entire album again, but it definitely has some playlist worthy tracks and for that it gets a 6/10.

I listened to this earlier in the week but I will listen to it again so I can pin point my favorite tracks from it.

Anyone who wishes to give final thoughts on Goofle's album please do so today. After that it's the Batty show. I want everyone to try to do their best to wrap up the previous week's album by Sunday, not let it drag over into next week, so let's try to do that, ok?

I don't think I'll have time today. I've heard the record before but don't remember much about it. I might do a review and put it in a spoiler later this week because **** the Trollheart regime.
