Zach Hill - Face Tat
First impressions: This sounds like what I wish AnCo's Here Comes the Indian sounded like. In short, I like it a lot. It varies enough that I felt it go by like it was nothing, and keeps me interested every second of the way. From the Andy Morrin type noise to the more punk-inspired passages, it's gonna be something I'll come back to. Great rec Riley

A few lines or fill in the matrix, but get something posted before we move on to our fourth album, which is in fact Frownland's choice. Thanks

2. We've only had three albums so far and most people have discussed them within their reviews, but nevertheless you're wrong. Frownland and I have discussed this one, and there's been discussion on both the others as well so I don't know where you're getting that from. 3. Yeah. Get on it Batty.

alright ****s, whateva you say.
oh and before we get started, you know i'm not the only one who hasn't read the rules. this place and rules get along together about as well as Chula and Frownland. i found this album late last year thanks to a friend of mine who told me to check out Zach Hill's solo work. it was somewhat coincidental that i was the one to introduce this friend to Death Grips, but knowing that we had similar tastes I figured it would probably be worth while. initially the album polarized me. i knew i liked it, but it was such an intriguing blend of noisy experimental production and some very catchy pop sensibility. while Zach's drumming is phenomenal, it wasn't, and still isn't the reason why i enjoy this album. in many ways i believe i enjoy this for the way it contrasts Death Grips' sound. where DG seem to be infused with elements of punk, metal and extreme music as a whole, it seems that Zach's solo material borrows far more from experimental pop (AC in particular) and the likes of Zappa and Beefheart. just look at the cover for his debut release definitely strikes me as an ode to Beefheart.
