Note: I should make it clear perhaps that this is not supposed to be a draconian rule which will be enacted regardless of previous contributions. In other words, say you have been reviewing every or most albums up to this point. If you miss out on the three before yours, with that track record, you won't be penalised most likely. This is just to gauge the overall performance of a member as it were: if they're engaging pretty frequently, no problem. But if they're the type who do nothing all round, then when their album comes up they suddenly get all interested, then their previous participation will be taken into account if they don't fulfil the criterion set out.
That's all; nothing heavy, just want everyone to try. If people don't want to take part that's fine, but there's no reason I can see why they should be accommodated one week in twenty-odd and then be able to duck out again, so if anyone only wants to contribute when their album is in rotation and do nothing else, they'll end up with no album, which to me is only fair to everyone.

Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your Weapon
I remember enjoying this album a fair bit the first few times I listened to it, but I have to say that it was rather underwhelming this time around. The vocals are pleasant but they don't go anywhere interesting, and the production is chilled to the point of boring at most points. Another complaint is how long it is. If you lack a diverse or amazing sound, don't have over an hour of material, please. It just makes the whole thing drag, to the point where you want to skip through the longer tracks once they have scrobbled My favourite track is "Swamp Thing" because that thumping bass line is a complete change of pace. Really good shit. But honestly I struggled to get through it without actively disliking any of it. I think I saw Jans post on a thread recently that "blandness" is a big reason for not liking songs, and I believe a lot of this falls under that bracket for me. 5/10

Thursday, and we have two reviews in. With this in mind, and looking to the future and taking into account how slow/lazy/busy/couldn't-give-a-**** some people are here, I'd like to take up a suggestion made, I believe, by DWV some time ago, which is to create a separate thread for each album in which it can be discussed/reviewed/commented upon. This will mean that we won't, or shouldn't, have crossover into the next week, like we still have at the moment, and people may find it a little more lax in terms of having to have your review in by Saturday/Sunday. If this takes off, then you can basically keep posting your reviews late, as long as they're put in the correct thread. General discussions about the club/insults/flame wars/death threats/unrelated memes and so forth should still go in the main thread, ie here.
If that's ok with everyone, could a mod please then transfer all posts pertaining to this week's album, the first of Round Two, into this thread? http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...ne-comedy.html If there are any objections to this, or if it contravenes any rules can you please let me know? Thanks
