I felt I may have left room for uncertainty.

Pretend - Tapestry'd Life
I'm really digging this. It possibly goes on too long but that opinion might change, this album clearly deserves more than the 2 listens I've had a chance to give it. I love the way the drums don't do what you're supposed to do when you play play in a rock band, neither do the guitars. Instead of rhythm and lead we get two guitar noodling much of the time, and although it seems semi improvised at times, these guys are clearly riding the same wave and never clash. When things head to a mellow groove and you expect the drummer to settle down, he starts going ballistic. I love this drummer. He's actually playing music, which is all too rare in rock where the percussion often serves a sterile, safe, and ultimately lame role. I still think this album could have been better cut down to the hour mark, but I'll see what I think after more listens, for now I'll say 8/10 |

Still getting in some more listens before my review, but I want to say that the drums sounds like Guigou Chenevier's (Etron Fou Leloublan) or Drumbo's locked in and travelling grooves combined with Maury Baker's drumming flair on Starsailor, all filtered through a post hardcore lens. The guitars are rad too.
